Like anyplace - there's good and bad

We've been at Fountain Square for over a year, and though it's good and in a great neighborhood there are some negatives (as there are with anyplace). We love the safe neighborhood, patio, well-maintained, roomy apartments and the friendly staff. Things we don't love: noise, though friendly there are many mis-communications between the office to maintenance which makes you wonder if their "friendliness" is just a way to make you feel like something will be done.
Noise: We are on a first floor apartment and there is a family living above us with young children so there is quite a bit of noise from above (ie stomping, running etc), so I suggest that if you are single, or a couple who likes it quiet an upper level apartment is the way to go (it also helps because you don't have to keep your shades closed as you do if you're on the 1st floor facing the pool, tennis courts etc) All the amenities are great, but it also makes it sometimes feel like a campground, just take them into serious consideration, because while you're not using them, someone else is and you'll hear it!
Maintenance/Response: We did have a mouse problem which took way too long to resolve. The staff was always friendly regarding it, however there were missed communications somewhere between the office staff and the maintenance team which made it take a while to resolve. There was also an occasion where our door was left unlocked by maintenance. Snow removal is the one area I would say they excel in - I've never had to worry about not getting my car out.
Bedrooms: The master bedroom is huge and it's a big plus having a master bath, that's something that some houses don't even have! Good place overall, but we're anxiously awaiting buying a home to regain our privacy and to be able to take the initiative to fix stuff on our own.
Laundry: There is 1 laundry site on our floor, 2 washers, 2 dryers. Adequate for the amount of tenants, but like any place - some people forget their clothes or make use of them for the day. Laundromats are nearby though.
Pets: pet friendly!
Fitness Center: good, but not adequate to replace a gym membership. 2 ellipticals, 1 treadmill, 1 bike, 1 total weight machine. Fine if no one else is in the room, but once you get 3 people in, it's packed. Also, little ventilation.
Pool: good, but hot tub was down for majority of the summer and children are not always supervised.

I lived at fountain square from 2006 to 2008. I only moved to live downtown. I miss many ammenities Fountain Square had to offer, especially the staff which was not only friendly but extremely efficent in the very FEW apt problems I had.
I had a lower apt East of the pool with a private garage. of course noise from above is an issue, it has been at EVERy apt I lived. All of my neighbors were not only friendly but quite respectful to everyones space.
The grounds are wonderful, never had issues with unsupervised kids. We did have some young adults who would get a little wild but the staff would address it within literally 10 minutes (in a friendly manner)
The pool, the staff, the roomy apts, the master bath. A great place and location. Just not the location for me. If fountain square was downtown, I'd live there.
only problem I found was my particular apt was a little dark but the fact it was an end unit with the patio facing the adjoining property with trees and bushes that made up for it.
3130 S Fountain Square prior tennant.
