We moved into Hidden Creek Apartments because the location is nice and the price was right. We also moved into the building that had burned down and was rebuilt, so we also moved into a virtually brand new apartment. The re-construction of the building is terrible. Many corners were cut. A few examples: 2 windows are new, which I thought would be a good thing. These windows must have been the absolute cheapest they could have found. They leak so much air that even with window film on all windows in the winter our heating bills were out of control. One of the windows was not replaced and it has no seal, so it really leaks bad. We also had stains on the kitchen flooring and carpeting in the bedroom. We never had a walk-through. My biggest complaint is the service and maintenance of the facility. Over the past winter, the snow removal crew (employed by the building owner) was horrible. They sometimes didn't show up for 12 hours after a snow fall of 12 inches or more. In fact there were times when they didn't show up at all on smaller snowfalls and even when they did show up they did a incomplete job. There were at least 2 occasions when we were snowed in for 12 hours. In the summer, the lawn is mowed about every other week and is full of weeds. There is also no onsite management. There is a contact person who is very unresponsive and virtually useless; She also doesn't follow the rules of the complex. All tenants are allowed a detached garage for parking and 1 outside spot. She uses her garage for collecting junk and parks 2 cars outside. The actual management company is located in Shorewood and isn't any better. I'd call them a rent collection company, not a management company. The positives: New appliances, full-size washer and dryer, dishwasher, private entrance, detached garage, newer construction, quiet complex, good tenants, good location, very fair price. The negatives: Horrible management, bad maintenance, bad construction. We are staying another year to save money for a house.
