Everyone can make their own decision, but I have lived here for 6 years and this place has gotten horrible since the new management took over!! The apartment IS a "decent" price for the size and Oak Creek address. However it is not a good value--value meaning taking pride in where you live, being happy with what you are receivng in return and enjoying where you live. The new managment wasted no time coming in changing everything around and remodeling their office! I am sitting here with cracked 1960's formica counters, a chipped cermaic sink and windows that should seriously be illegal! When new managment came in the mandated "energy efficient updates" haha what a joke! Everything blows right out the windows! Parking is ok, but if you live in the back like me be prepared to haul all your groceries literally about a city block!! Snow removal is dismal as well as the landscaping. I have myself shoveled the side walks for myself and neighbors as well as pruning bushes because it is so embarrassing to have company over and the grounds look overgrown! Laundry facilities are crappy. 2 washer/dryers for 20 tennants!!! I have called the management with reasonable requests and usually am assured action...rarely is anything changed! The lot is well lit, but the apartment court yards are NOT! Beware of that! Luckily I have good neighbors and I know mostly everyone, however there have been several crimes committed in Oak Park. My husband's car was broken into and seriously damaged. The worst thing I can remember is from this summer when a young girl was sexually assaulted in the basement of one of the buildings--managment NEVER informed residents, I found out from a friend who lived in that building! I guess my overall suggestion would be to be if you are looking for size and cost this is your place. However, I caution there is very poor management, which can easily ruin it even if it is cheap and spacious!! Not to mention the apartments/buildigs are very outdated.

I would like to clear a few things up with your review. 1st as a current tenant of Oak Park I was also very angered that I was not alerted that there was an alleged sexual assault of a young girl here because I also have children. I went as far as calling the Oak Creek Police department where I found out that it was nothing more then a rumor. A young girl had made it up to get attention from what they told me and it spread like wild fire around the gossip junkies of Oak Park. Also I live in a 20 unit building and there is 4 washers and 4 dryers in the building. I agree they did remodel the office but what is wrong with that? A friend of mine just moved in to a 2 bedroom and it looked great! They had new counter tops, a dishwasher and new carpet put in. I understand that there are alot of new rules popping up but I think its a good thing and once you get out there looking at other apartments, you will see just how flexible the management really is here. (5 days grace period to pay your rent in...nuff said!)

I have to agree with the original poster. We live in a crappy building with crappy neighbors. Our basement is disgusting, the pipes are all leaky and need fixing. They need lights in each individual locker, it's too dark down there and half the time the lights burn out. The stairs are all wobbly. Now to get to our apartment, the walls and celings are cracked, our screens need to be replaced as well as the blinds in the master bedroom. Our bathroom needs fixing (which we have brought up several times and it has yet to be addressed). We have the most inconsiderate neighbors on the face of the earth. All they do is scream at eachother and slam doors. We didn't get any sleep over the weekend because they were blairing their music and tv and were getting wasted in the courtyard. The one kid blows up lighters in the courtyard, and all we ever smell is smoke. I just want to bail on that place but we are stuck in our lease.

I can tell you that the story of the little girl being taken into the basement was not made up. The cops lied to you. I agree there are a lot of things that need to be fixed. Such as more washers and dryers so I don't have to wait two days to do wash and clean up the mold that is on the basement walls from the last rain fall. I agree things were a lot better with the old owners. I'm really happy that the first thing the new owners did was fix up their office. Too bad the apartments don't look that nice! Maybe since there are so many kids here they could build a playground. Everyone I talk to here has ant problems. Every year you can expect the rent to raise at least $30 but the quality of the apartments never go up.
