When we toured the place we were told all about the great heating and cooling benefits that the apartment had. We soon learned out the first January that we were in the apartment how sorely misled we were. A $150 heat bill!!! Yikes. That was not good. We soon were out to the hardware store getting as much 3M window plastic as necessary to stop the cold breeze that would blow through are apartment anytime the mercury dipped below 40 degrees outside. Additionally, anytime the temp was above 80 or below 30, it seemed like the AC or the furnace would never shut off. It was quite inconvenient that the vents were put in the ceiling. That got very annoying quite quickly. The furnace and AC are some of the most inefficient units money can buy. No wonder Riverwood does not cover the heating and cooling costs. There should be an environmental tax for businesses that fail to put efficient units into their buildings.
Good luck on trying to get one of the women from the office to call you back. You can call and call and not get a response. A good percentage of the time the answering machine will be the only thing you will talk to. Well in your search, if you must check this place out, please go on a breezy cool day or a hot day in July because you will soon be amazed at how wonderful the heating and cooling system really is when it runs constantly. Yeah the views surrounding the place were nice for the most part, but the experience was not.

I have to disagree about the utility bills. I am on the budget plan available to anyone who asks for it through WE. My bill all year around every month is the set rate of $95. I also have time of use through WE, again available to anyone. I chose 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. So during this time during the weekdays and any time of the day during the weekend my energy usage is only 3 cents per unit. This is the time we do all our dishwashing and wash clothes. During the weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. the cost per unit is 20 cents. I have my current December bill in front of me. I have a family of 3 and a 2 bed loft and office and we have a lot of electronics going on all the time. My electric usage was $74 and gas $12. So far this year I have only had to use my heat 5 times. We have no drafts in our apartment at all. Also, it cycles on and off depending on how you set it up.

I have to disagree i think that the heating and electric bill were more than reasonable. With the price of gas going up everywhere else to pay 150 for g & e on the coldest months when we have our heat cranked (due to the newborn) too warm for me! I think was more than fair! Plus the new management get to know you on a personal level and i think are more than helpful when it comes to business! Jen and Krista i think are the best team i have ever dealt with in apartment living!
