Wish I Knew Better

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
My boyfriend and I were so excited to move in together and try a new road in our relationship we made a critical mistake by rushing in to the apartment. We didn't put much effort in to hunting around and comparing complexes. We truly regret it now, and it has actually affected our relationship in a very negative way - we don't live together anymore and are hesitant to rent again. This place looked great when we took the tour! Once we got settled in we noticed the terrible paint job they did. The neighbors before us had interesting taste in paint colors that's for sure. There were many large pinkish stains all over the carpeting, which they ended up taking money out of our security deposit for, even though I stated on the move-in inspection sheet that they were from the previous tenant. It wasn't long before I noticed how paper thin the walls were. Needless to say, the folks next door AND upstairs had a very squeaky mattress and they loved to moan. My fist was often sore from pounding on the wall a lot. Constantly having to hear those bedrooms rendezvous was very disgusting and uncomfortable. The family upstairs had obnoxious children that loved to scream and stomp around...I don't know what the hell they would drop on the floor - a bowling ball maybe'! I kept the broom handy so I could bang the handle on the ceiling when it got out of control. One positive note: I find it awesome that the apartment allows dogs with no weight limit that s hard to come by and more apartments should follow suit there are thousands of unwanted animals in shelters due to apartment restrictions. HOWEVER, that means that dog owners need to step up to the plate and learn to train their dogs and control the excessive barking. Do not own a dog if you will be gone for long hours (!!!!!!!!), leaving the dog to sit in a crate bored out of its mind yapping away all day until you return. I was tempted to buy a shock collar for the neighbor below me, the barking was absolutely ridiculous. Snow removal was a joke, it usually took a few days before they made an attempt and it was far from decent. I was VERY tempted to borrow my parent s snowblower but why should I have to do that'! There was a man in a wheelchair who lived in my complex and I d love to know how in the world he got around since the sidewalks were never shoveled or salted.
Bottom line is .this place should charge $500 a month not $910 not even close to being worth that price (and they had the nerve to increase it when our lease was up!!). I would NEVER recommend it. We should NEVER of moved in. Oh well, you live and learn I guess.
