I had a very nice experience living at Tanglewood Apartments. I lived in a 2 bedroom deluxe in the back and it was great. My kids could go right out the patio door to our private deck, then down to the beautiful courtyard to play. The view was pretty. We even had deer come out of the forest to linger around for a while. It was neat. Any maintenance issues I had were ALWAYS handled immediately and the grounds were always maintained. The pool was a plus and I rented the clubhouse one time for a party to accomodate our large list of people at a reasonable cost. You cannot find a better apartment complex in Oak Creek with heat and a washer and dryer in the unit. As a single Mom, these are important to me and I always felt safe as well as my kids. You have to remember, these are apartments, not privately owned homes. There will be "some" noise. Life is what YOU make it. I miss living there.

Pay a 1700.00 a month mortgage plus WE ENERGIES plus SEWER, cut your own grass and listen to your own family run around and slam doors then! Good luck finding that perfect apartment.

Yeah, life is great when you pay big money. And I am happy you have had a positive experience. I used to enjoy living at Tanglewood. I was going to move out after eight years, but personal situations didn't allow for it. I regret staying for the ninth. I should have bitten the bullet and moved. Oh and try living in a one bed room on the second floor in one of the standard buildings.

Life is what you make it and when you spend 10,000 a year on rent you should not have to deal with the crap that Tanglewood puts on you. The neighbors are young noisey kids that slam doors and run around all night long. The office people are nice but give you the run around on when things need to get done.
Yeah they pay for your heat but all the other crap you have to deal with is just stupid! Id rather pay for my heat and have a great apartment, without noise, bugs, and just plain stupidity! DO NOT MOVE HERE! There are plenty of other places in Oak Creek than these, TRUST ME.

I lived at tanglewood for 8 years also. The first 4 years were wonderful but the office staff changed so frequently that nobody knew me even though I was a long term tenant. After the 4th year things started going down hill. But I really loved the location and the feeling of safety so I stuck it out. The maintenance staff remained top notch throughout the entire time I lived there, but the office staff got lazier, snippier and downright unpleasant. Not my fault that after so many years things needed repair. The place was already more than 10 years old when I moved in.
In year 4 my dryer caught fire and had to be replaced. Thanks God it didn't burn down the building! The maintenance guy said the vent was clogged with lint and there was no way I could have cleaned that out because it was in the wall where I couldn't possibly reach it -- or even know about it. He cleaned it professionally, replaced the vent hose and the dryer. The resident manager came over to lecture me on the way to clean out the lint trap in the dryer each time I used it so I wouldn't burn out the new one before it's time. Hello? The maintenance guy already said it was beyond a tenant's knowledge or ability to clean out the vent INSIDE THE WALL.
Year 5 my refrigerator died and had to be replaced. Thankfully no lecture or complaint from management.
Year 6 it was the air conditioner, which leaked a gallon of whatever liquid was in it all over my bedroom floor. SO maintenance had to remove the carpet, dry the base floor, add mold inhibitor, then replace the carpet. I got lectured about this. The manager left a 5 minute harangue on my answering machine about how to use the thermostat on the wall properly so the air conditioner and furnace wouldn't "be shocked". What???
Year 7 my furnace died in the middle of January. It was sub zero that day. The maintenance guy said the whole thing needed to be replaced because it was more than 15 years old, rusted and dead. It took 3 maintenance workers 3 days to get the thing disconnected because it was so rusted in it wouldn't come loose. Installing the new one took 2 hours, but then the whole apartment was filled with noxious fumes because of whatever petro-chemicals the new one was filled with to keep it "shelf stable" (so the maintenance guy said, though I have no idea what that meant). My cat died from the fumes (verified by the vet). So for 8 days I had to stay in a motel because my apartment was dangerously uninhabitable, and when I submitted the bill to management staff for reimbursement, they yelled at me and told me I was out of my mind. The manager said first of all, cats die. They don't live as long as humans and sometimes they just die. -----! Then she said they don't pay anyone for staying in a motel unless they specifically tell you that you can't stay in your apartment during the repair. It doesn't matter that I told her about the noxious fumes. She said "noxious" was a "relative" term. I said I couldn't breathe in there, my chest was tight, I got a bad headache and stomach ache, and was dizzy and achy. She said "it's winter, you probably had the flu." There was no reasoning with this person.
That was the last straw. I determined to move out as soon as my lease was up at the end of March. SO I started looking right away, found a place that let me move in the last day of February. I gave my 30 day written notice and planned to pay for March rent, even though I'd be moved out, because I didn't want them to sue me for breaking the lease. The manager called me and said she got my notice to vacate and I needed to give her a check for $1500 if I wanted to move. What??? I told her I'd be paying my rent as usual until the end of my lease, even though I'd be moved out a month early. And that I'd use the last month to clean appropriately so I could get my security deposit back. She said "just write me a check for $1500 and don't worry about cleaning; we'll take care of that." I said no thanks, that $1500 was twice the amount of my monthly rent and why should I pay double for one month, just for the priviledge of not having to clean? She said "it's your call" then she hung up without even saying goodbye or anything.
Well, I cleaned the place really well. Washed windows & walls. Shampooed the carpet. Washed the floors the old fashioned way -- on hands and knees with a scrub brush. Steam cleaned the washer, dryer, fridge, freezer, stove and oven. The place was sparkling clean, even better than it was when I moved in 8 years before.
April 17 that year I got a letter from the manager telling me my security deposit was being withheld due to the apartment being left in uninhabitable condition. She said she had to pay 2 staff members for 3 day's work to clean it. What a load of crap! After I spent 4 days myself scrubbing that place until it looked brand new.

I have had nothing but problems with the maintenance staff at Tanglewood. The first review must be written by a staff member wanting you to move in, because maintenance has been nothing but a headache from the moment I've moved in. When my washer broke, I got a lecture telling me it was my fault for overloading the machine. I been doing laundry for 10 years on my own and have never broken a machine in my life. (thank you very much) They removed the washer and replaced it with a "new" one only to find out it was the SAME washer and surprise surprise SILL broke. So that one was switched out and replaced with one that makes so much pounding noise that I can't do laundry past 9pm out of courtesy for my neighbors. I'm scared to request a different one in fear it will be my fault again and the hassle it is to get anything fixed. I have had the water turned off in my building about six times in the three years I have lived here. They do not give you notice. Not even a courtesy phone call. They simply shut it off and you have no idea what is going on. When you call the office they say that they cannot possibly call everyone in the building, it would take too long. Let's see...there are three levels with four apt's on each level. Considering all apt's are rented, that's 12 people for our side of the building!!! If the whole building is contacted that would be max 24 people. Excuse me but that's just down right inconsiderate, lazy, and rude. I had to call into work because I couldn't even brush my teeth or flush my toilet. And it's been all times of the day and night. One min. you have water, the next you don't. The staff can be very rude and frustrating. I could write a book on some of the things that didn't get fixed and headache's dealing with maintenance but it would be faster just to move out! Oh wait I have to mention one last thing...the ceiling in my bedroom was leaking (actually dripping water) and the solution that was given to me was until the can get on the roof of the building I would have to keep a huge plastic sheet stapled to my ceiling and funnel down the water into a plastic pail. When I inquired as to when they would be able to get on the roof, they told me 2 or 3 months! Due to the fact that on one wa going to come and look at a roof until it got warmer out.I was suppost to keep a plastic sheet up in my bedroom with my bed pushed to the side for 2 months and be ok with it. I am not kidding.

I'm looking to move, and have a friend in Tanglewood. So far she has no complaints. She loves it. That's why I'm looking here. I seem to notice all the negative reviews are coming from the same user names a lot of the time, so I'll keep it in mind, but the person I personally know is more of an influence. I looked at her place before being shown by staff so that I knew for myself how a "normal" place will look like. So far I'm impressed, so we'll see how things go.
