MICE INFESTED

I am a current resident of Hidden Oak, who is currently searching for a new place to live. We have recently found out that one of the buildings is mice infested. The tenants of the building were not noified that there were mice in the building, although there were several complaints made to Management. They did not send an exterminator to the building until the Health Department was notified of the problem, by one of the tenants. There is now a file and case building with the Health Department regarding Hidden Oak. The office manager actually got upset when she had learned that tenants in the other buildings found out about the mice problem in the other building. Instead of reassuring the tenants that the problem was being taken care of, they only wanted to know who told us about the problem. There is ALWAYS garbage overflowing in the dumpsters because they only provide 2 dumpsters for 36 apartments. There is always garbage in the hallways, and my building has had mold in the carpet due to the recent rain, for 3 weeks. No one has bothered to attempt cleaning or replacing the carpet. I have never lived in an apartment complex that was as badly run as this one. The Management office does not respond to complaints and will consistently blame tenants for the filth of the facility. It is the responsibility of the tenants to make sure they keep the buildings clean, but it is also the responsibility of Management to make sure that we have a sufficient number of caretakers who will clean the building regularly. The carpet on my floor has smelled of urine since moving in 2 years ago, and they have never steam cleaned or replaced the carpeting. I have seen dog feces remain on the carpet in the hallway for more than days. There are approximately 10 buildings that have approximately 30-36 apartments each. They only have 1 person for maintenance, and they "hire" or compensate one person from each building to clean their particular building. For the amount of money that is paid to live here, you would think they can afford to hire a cleaning crew once a week. They make sure to regularly clean the buildings in the front of the complex because they use these buildings when showing apartments to new applicants. I am worried about the safety and health of my children due to the recent mice scare. I seriously feel like I am living in a high priced, housing project. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE GET AN APARTMENT WITH HIDDEN OAK, IF YOU THINK YOU DESERVE A CLEAN AN WELL KEPT PLACE TO STAY!!!!!

We moved out of 8450, and we are the tenants that called the health department. Today I opened a letter from Hidden Oak thinking I was receiving my security deposit, instead they are saying that in one year we stained and wore out the carpet beyond repair. (right) Let me tell you the mental stress this place has caused me and my family. First, we moved in at the end of June 07, and the hallways smelled so bad, we left our patio door unlocked and only used the hallway to take the trash down. The trash was flowing out of the dumpsters on a daily basis, which probably brought our next issue - mice. By about August we noticed mice feces along the wall, then in my cooking utensils, my children's toy boxes, sheets, everywhere. Management was contacted several times and did nothing but give us a few sticky traps. After several phone calls and no response we contacted the health department, and flyers we created were sent around the building seeing if anyone else was having these problems. We were not alone. Someone was friends with a tenant in another building, that also was having issues with the management and them not fixing things. Word got back to the office about the flyers, and while I was leaving the pool with my children one of the ladies came out of the management office accusing me of distributing these flyers to other buildings and that I was "trespassing". Finally, after the health department said they had to call an exterminator after our photos of several mice, their droppings and seeing all of my children's toys boxed up, they finally sent an exterminator to inspect the building. He said it was not infested, even though we could hear them running around in the walls. After finding pieces of the ceiling in my tupperware in the kitchen pantry, I looked up and saw the the mice had chewed through the ceiling where the sprinkler system was, and had been dropping down and running through my apartment. Maintenance came and filled in the holes, but after following a foul smell, I opened the door to the furnace by the patio and I found 4 more dead rotting mice on sticky pads. That was our mice incident which lasted for entirely way to long, and took entirely way too many phone calls to management before any action was taken. After that the washer broke, many times, finally they replaced it after the motor burned out. The dryer only dried your clothes after 120 minutes of drying time. The dishwasher - - - - constantly had to be repaired, in fact I called May 4th to have it fixed because the water wouldn't drain out of it. And we moved out June 28th and it still hadn't been fixed. I realized while I was packing I was short on silverware and had to retrieve my moldy dishes out of the dishwasher. I EVEN TOLD THEM MY NEW APARTMENT MANAGER SAID THAT WAS A HEALTH HAZARD, AND THEY DID NOTHING!!!! What a nightmare, and it obviously has not ended since they think they can keep my deposit and then charge me on top of it. My friend is also moving out at the end of her lease. My cousin just moved out also. Unprofessional and unethical!
