The apartment itself is nice. It has a nice layout and being on the 3rd floor, it has high ceilings. They call them "luxury apartments", I disagree. Our elevator is constantly broken (which is really a hassle carrying up my child and groceries up three flights of stairs), as is our garage door. They say it is a secure building, but, like I said, the garage door is always open (we actually got our car broken into while parked down there and other people have had gas stolen) and there is a back enterance that is unlocked with no buzzer or anything; plus everyone leaves the front enterance open. Not to mention, our hall has a permenant smell of dog pee. In the winter they don't plow unless a blizzard comes through, and even then it's a poor job. The management is horrible. First off, they are always getting new people. Second, they are all terribly rude. For somewhere that is suppose to be "luxury", I would expect better service. They act like I'm bothering them. The area is nice, as long as the trains don't bother you (I got used to it), but like I said I don't think it's worth almost as much as a mortgage payment (and the rent keeps rising).

I lived there a long time ago and I still love to read how horrible that place is. We had great fun while we were there but they still have the same problems they did when I was there in 2004-2006. If they haven't fixed the garages and the trash in four years what makes you think they are going to do it now. Nothing. My car got broke into when I was there as did my entire apartment building. The only thing that stopped the theives from moving on to our truck was my alarm on my car. The stupid idiots left the golf club next to my car with their prints on them. But you know the funny thing, Hidden Oaks never told us that our cars had been broken into. I found out at 1 the following day. Nice huh?? People never picked up their dog crap and still don't. I had a friend whose air never worked even though they said it was working just fine. If it is cooler outside then in with the air running does that mean it's working?? Didn't think so. So my advice to anyone who is looking at this place to live is try somewhere else. The pool is always going to be crowded with kids and no parents, the trash will always be overflowing, there will be mice and in our case roaches(a tenant brought them and they sprayed in secret), they will never be there to fix anything that breaks, and yes you will always be a pain in the neck for the management to deal with. Try the town houses on 45th Street in Kenosha. Lived there my first year and should have never left it. Cheaper and cleaner with private garages. Take care everyone and I hope this helps you never live there. Remember when leaving there you have to let them know 60 days in advance and if you don't you are stuck there. Peace and love from South Dakota:)

I lived at Hidden Oaks for one year and moved out in June, 2008. I am going to court next month to try and get my escrow back. The management did not even attempt to clean the carpet but chose to replace it, even though all it needed was cleaning (the mangement pays to have it professionally cleaned after each tenant moves). When the dining area is carpeted and there are 3 small children living there, one can expect the carpet to need a thorough cleaning. Instead, the management declared the carptet "worn beyond repair". This is after having a year long battle with them to 1)get rid of mice in our apartment, 2)add a garbage dumpster due to overflow of trash in the parking garage, and 3)fix the dishwasher, which was unrepaired for the last 6 weeks of living there. I only hope the judge is more fair than the dishonest management at Hidden Oaks.

It's funny you mention that they are suppose to clean the apartment before you move in, because they didn't when I did. When I came to move in the apartment was a disaster. The air conditioning unit was in my living room floor, there were cigarette butts everywhere along with newspapers and take out food wrappers and nothing had been cleaned. They had the nerve to ask me to come back when I was there with my moving truck loaded and my stuff in the hallway!
