Don't live here! Nightmare!!

From: Darwig

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009

Let me start by saying that I lived here for a full year and me and my two roommates were quiet, respectful tenants and we paid our rent on time every month. The apartments look pretty nice compared to other buildings in River Falls but the walls are paper thin, you can hear everything in the parking lot (especially at bar close) and the carpet is stained pretty badly. But I'd rather live in a crummier building then have to live under this landlady again!
At the outset, my roommates and I saw reviews about the horrible landlord and decided that we would live there anyways. We didn't think that the landlord would really be as interfering as she actually is. Oh, how we were wrong...
Diane does not communicate, she will never answer or return phone calls, she only leaves nasty, rude, condescending notes on your door. Several times we were accused of not paying our rent or not paying the full amount of our rent. We would have to pull out our check stubs and bank accounts confirming that Diane had indeed cashed our checks for that month. She only wanted to weasel more money out of us. She threatened to charge us for cigarette butts in the parking lot that were not ours, and several other ridiculous things. I do not expect to see a penny of my security deposit back even though we probably left our apartment in better condition than we received it.
Parking is terrible, we had a two bedroom and three people so we only got two parking spaces and we had to pay $40 dollars a month for a garage. If you forget to put out your parking permit or if you have friends over you will get a large hot pink sticker in the middle of your driver's side window. Good luck getting it off because it takes months to get the sticky, gummy residue and paper off of the window. That is vandalism, plain and simple.
She never clears out the parking lot of snow in the winter time and she frequently threatens to have our cars towed on days that she needs it swept or plowed. She will post a less than 24 hour notice on the main door to remove cars from the parking lot or bikes from the bike rack. She will cut your chain on your bike and donate it if you don't remove it in time. The sidewalks and lot are also never salted in the winter time, it's like an ice rink.
If you want anything you need to leave several notes in the rent box. She leaves horribly demeaning and rude notes in return even if you are pleasant and accommodating in your own notes and messages. I had to leave Diane 5 notes to use the "free rent for a month" deal that she offers for 12 month leases. She still left us a late rent notice on our door. I also had to leave her several notes about our move out date, at 60 days, 30 days, and then the week before we moved out she left us at least 4 notes accusing us of not notifying her of our move out date! Seriously' She is a nightmare.
This lady is a complete nightmare, I almost went to the cops about her harassment and I do plan on filing a formal complaint to Boisclair corporation, the owners of the two buildings.

Do not live here! There are other options!!
