To summarize the estabrook homes, the area in Shorewood is beautiful. The floor plans are laid out very nicely, I've seen 2 different versions and liked both. There is a clubhouse. There is temperature controlled parking garage.


The Bad:

1. Management is terribly disorganized. See following examples:
- Repeatedly no-showed appointments, including those that I took time off work for
- Repeatedly left harsh notices on my door stating that I owe them rent when I had in fact always paid on time or early.
- The owner of the complex does not care about tenants. When I called to complain about the management personnel he pretty much yelled at be before even finding out who I am.
- One of the notices labeled "5 days to pay rent or vacate" was posted and signed by the owner himself, even though it was incorrect.
- Management does not return phone calls. My roommate has not even been able to sign the lease yet and we've been moved in already.

2. The apartment itself was not prepared:
- These things were eventually fixed: Built-in microwave did not work. Screens for windows were missing.
- These things have not been fixed: a 3-way switch is wired incorrectly, it does not work right. A very nasty smell comes out of a strange panel in the wall next to the toilet. It is unsettling.


The Mediocre:

1. The clubhouse is amazing, but it closes at 9pm every day of the week for some reason. A huge waste of a wonderful resource for anyone who works second shift or works first shift and has other things to take care of on a daily basis.

2. If you need a "Tandem" parking spot, it means you get one long parking spot that 2 cars can fit in, meaning the 2 car-drivers need to be very well planned as to not park each other in.


The good:

Heated parking, nice layout, Spacious living situation, although seriously lacking in storage. Club house with a great sized swimming pool, hot tub, pool table, ping pong table, "fooseball", couches with cable TV, etc. The management seems to be very nice, and kind-hearted even if disorganized.


With all these considerations, the humans who run the estabrook homes are not worth dealing with. They have made me very upset on several occasions.

Please avoid living here at all costs. I really wish I could leave.
