WORST PLACE I'VE EVER LIVED

The first time my boyfriend and I visited Ridge View, we met with a very nice woman who showed us a decent apartment, which was the model. That was the end of the good experiences. We have had our apartment switched on us, both times being put into previously evicted apartments, that we did not get to see in a complete "remodeled" state before having to sign the lease. After moving in to the remodeled apartment, I found cigarette butts on the floor from the work crew. GROSS! And the "new" closet doors do not match each other. The first apartment was incredibly dirty when we moved in; in particular the kitchen was literally coated with grease. I cleaned it as best I could, and we made a complaint, at which point they said when we moved out we wouldn't need to clean. Well I cleaned anyway when we switched apartments, spent a lot of time on it, but then they charged us for cleaning anyway. They also charged us for tears in a crappy screen door (that was always torn), when they were replacing all of the apartments patio doors the next week. Doing laundry here is a joke, not only is there always clothing sitting in the machines, but none of the dryers work properly, even after being "fixed". Between the 2 of us, we spend $10.00 a WEEK on washing and drying clothes alone. Mail is located at the first building and is completely inconvenient to get to. That and when there is a package is goes to the office, who won't contact you about it for a week. Parking is ample, but not secure or safe. The police are always here, and we have been questioned in the parking lot at least twice about suspected criminals in the building. There are also lots of broken windows in the parking lot, the glass is never cleaned up, along with the abundance of litter. This place is just dirty. And most of the neighbors are very loud and rude and chain smoke. That really stinks in the summer because the air conditioner provided in the corner of the living room is worthless, so we have to leave the windows open and breathe in the toxic air. The people who live upstairs from us are constantly fighting or blasting their music. Everything in our "remodeled" apartment is always breaking. The maintenance crew does a good job, but everything is just poor quality to start with. The office staff are unhelpful and unapologetic about their policies. They took away the recycling bins and there is never enough room in the few dumpsters. The only good thing about this place is that it is a 10 minute commute to downtown. Unfortunately, it is not worth the noise of being located next to both the airport and a railroad. When the train comes by it shakes the building. I would say that it's okay for being cheap, except it is NOT cheap. Go find a place in Bay View, they have really nice duplexes near the lake and are often cheaper.

I have rented two duplexes in Bay View. You really have to watch out for absentee/extremely lazy landlords who try to push all of their responsibilities onto you. You would be surprised. The homes may look beautiful, but beware! These miserly crooks cover up all kinds of problems in those older homes, and wouldn't feel a bit of remorse to take a rent check from your dead cold hand--as long as it's not TOO MUCH TROUBLE.
