Wow... This place is terrible.

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
I really can't even begin to describe the hell that The Village Apartments are to live in. First, the parking situation is less than ideal. Why am I paying for an additional parking permit when 50% of cars here don't even have one' The management doesn't care, and they have only threatened to tow twice in the year and a half I've been living here.
Second, either the heat is on or it is off, there is no in between. Unfortunately, when it is below zero, there is no heat. I can feel the icy winds blow up my pants at night. When it's 50, you might as well wear shorts and a tank top because you're going to be roasting your nuts off. If it's included in rent, I expect to have it at least 60 degrees in my apartment. On the same note, the A/C units are as old as the building and usually blow musty warm air, so it's no relief from some of the torrid summer days.
In the apartment, good luck trying to have a quiet environment to sleep or study, as you can hear everything going on in the hallway, next door, and above/below you. We have nicknamed one of the upstairs tenants Guitar Hero because he plays (and not very well) acoustic guitar at all hours of the day and night.
My next complaint is that the grounds are not kept up at all, the grass is dead for most of the summer, and when it's growing it's mostly crab grass and dandelions. The parking lot is constantly covered in broken glass, and I have had to replace the tires on my vehicle because of their neglect.
Maintenance' Quality of the construction' I might as well live in a straw hut, because at least I could insulate it from drafts. The paint on our ceilings is flaking, I wonder if it's lead based' My toilet constantly runs, and they don't care. I guess that's why the rent is so high, because they have an outrageous sewer and water bill, since they don't heat the apartments. The counter tops and flooring is straight out of the disco era, in fact, my mother said that her mother had the same counter top in the 70s. At least we have a dishwasher. That's probably the only good point, aside from having two bathrooms. Well, then again, neither of the tubs drain properly and my toilet is always growing some sort of new mold, even though I clean it at least once a week.
The rent is constantly going up, and I haven't seen any improvements since I moved in. At least they got rid of the creepy guy who was the manager. I am counting the days until my lease is up, but of course, I'll probably not see a single cent of my security deposit. If you're considering living here, you might as well just flush your money down the toilet and live in a cardboard box. My cats are so offended with the condition of the apartment that they won't even urinate on the carpet... Yes, it's that bad, a cat won't urinate on the floor, because it's below its standards.
