Horrible place to live!

When I first moved in about 3 years ago I didn't think it was a bad place... that opinion changed fairly quickly. The only reason I stayed there as long as I did was because I had gotten in on an "all utilities included" in rent deal they had at one point and was just too lazy to move. Finally I could no longer justify putting up with their crap... and believe me, there's plenty of it.
Where to begin... Well, it seems like they don't screen their tenants at all. Many of them are younger kids who are always being loud and throwing parties. Their friends will show up at all hours of the night and come stomping into the building or hang out in the parking lot yelling at each other. I'm in my late 20's and I like to have a good time so the fact that they continually pissed me off with being loud is saying a lot.
At times there was definitely a drug problem in the building I was in... One time there was a bag of pot just laying in the hallway and depending on the tenants at the time it wasn't uncommon to have the police or EMT's show up at the building. I've had drunk people walk right into my apartment on several occasions... I quickly learned to always lock the door.
Management is terrible and maintenance is basically worthless. One of the tenants in my building let their apartment get so dirty that there was an infestation of cockroaches which then spread to the other units in the building. Disgusting and really unhealthy! It took them several months and many visits from the exterminators to finally deal with the problem. I've never had to deal with cockroaches before in my life and let me tell you, it's not pleasant!!
In another instance there were regular leaks from the washing machines or water heater outside my unit... they didn't seem to care to fix the problem and the water got soaked up into the adjoining wall in my unit. As a result there was a big mold problem in my front closet. This caused me a lot of health issues for several months and it took them several trips out to "attempt" to fix the issue.. which they never did. I ended up having to spend money out of my pocket to clean it to the point were the mold didn't come back right away. It's faster and more efficient to fix problems yourself rather than having to rely on their shoddy maintenance attempts. Completely unacceptable.
Parking especially in the winter is a big problem and they do a crappy job of plowing. They posted signs saying that everyone needed to have their vehicles out of the parking lot for set hours during the day so they could plow... no problem as most people are at work during the day. But then I'd get home in the evening and have them call me and telling me to go out and move my vehicle so they could plow... HOURS after they were supposed to do it. If they are going to set a time frame for it they better damn well be there during those times! Then one day I came home and they had posted a note on the main door saying that they had given up plowing because vehicles weren't being moved. This is their mentality. Give a half-hearted effort and then give up. If you move there, don't say I didn't warn you.
Back to management... Several times they posted eviction notices on my door even though I had already paid rent. They tape them to the door open, and face out so that everyone can see it which makes you look bad (especially when it's a mistake, cuz nobody else knows that, they just assuming you're a loser who doesn't pay rent) and when you call to complain they aren't even apologetic about it. It's infuriating! At one point they also posted the complete billing history for all the tenants on their doors. They weren't in envelopes or folded up or anything... so if you wanted you could walk around and look at when your neighbors are paying their rent or if they've been late... I like my privacy and called to complain and again they weren't apologetic about it.
They don't enforce much as people let their dogs crap all over the lawn or leave clothes in the washers/dryers for hours. They have not fixed the washing machines and dryers even though they have been told many times that they have issues. I even heard the maintenance guy blatantly lie to a newer tenant when she told him one of the dryers didn't work right. He said it was the first he had heard about it even though we had been complaining about it for months. Real classy.
So yeah, in my opinion it's a horrible place to live. I'm so glad that I moved. I would not recommend living there, in fact I would strongly urge you to stay away unless you actually like headaches and dealing with incompetence.
