What a horrible year! I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone under any circumstances. Unless of course you like living amongst piles of trash that other tenants throw out their car and apartment windows that no one picks up. The dumpsters are often overflowing. When they aren't you can't tell because half of the people just throw their garbage bags on the ground around them anyway. Or perhaps the paper thin walls so that you can hear every conversation your neighbors have. Maybe the appeal of dimly lit basements where juveniles are always up to no good entices you. Speaking of juveniles up to no good, they crowd around the buildings in the summer and hassle you when you try to get into the building. One of my favorite parts was how the assisted living people are scattered throughout the complex and the "nurses" have master keys so that when you woke up in the morning, your front door would be open. My recommendation, change the locks as soon as you move in! One of the "patients" across the hall frequently assaulted us and other tenants as well. She would often threaten to kill the neighbor's children. Needless to say, she was arrested frequently. At least the police were always around! Also, the nurses were abusive to the patients. It was always a pleasure to hear them screaming at all hours of the night.
When my husband and I went to see the complex, they showed us a beautiful model. It seemed great! They would not let us see our actual apartment until the day of move-in because "it was freshly painted." More like they knew once we saw it, we would have gone running. Good job to Melissa and Ramon for scamming us into this dump!!!They did not even bother to ensure that the appliances worked before we moved in. The refrigerator had stopped working and the hundred year old stove leaked gas out into the apartment at all times. It took three maintenace calls for it to be solved to a degree that was livable. Hot water is a valuable commodity, so if you can get a hot shower, do it while you can. Mysteriously, the hot water never seems to work on weekends. They also stopped providing emergency maintenance, so if your sink sprays water out the bottom for no aparent reason after 6pm or on weekends, hire a plumber or try to fix it yourself.
No matter how many bedrooms you have, you only get one parking spot. This is not enforced as some families would have three or four cars in the parking lot and two or three of them would be up on blocks with parts missing. Good luck getting a decent spot! The parking lots are not well lit at night, so make sure you bring a flashlight.
