I moved into Courtyard at the end of summer to begin school in the fall. I came to visit Courtyard when looking for a place to stay and they made it seem like the greatest place to be. It looks beautiful from the outside and when they show you around the facilities they always talk up their wonderful security features, leading you to believe you are living in a palace.

Then reality hits as soon as you sign their 10 page long lease and move in to your apartment!! I was ready to move out a week after I had moved in!! I am on the second floor and it is VERY noisy, you can hear every little thing going on in the apartment above and outside. There is a fire station and train tracks on both sides of the complex, so that alone screams noise!! I don't feel safe at Courtyard like they lead you to believe they are. There are people who just hang out around the parking lots and I very rarely go out by myself after dark.

The floors in the kitchen and bathroom are turned yellow and a dingy black color that won't come clean. The carpet throughout the rest of the apartments are worn down, stained, and even marked with burn holes. The facilities at Courtyard are supposed to be smoke-free, if you want to smoke, you go out onto your balcony to do so. However, my apartment smelled of smoke and the people living above me smoke and it comes down through my vents and makes my apartment smell terrible!!

There have been several other complaints that my roommate and I have addressed to the management and it takes a while, but they do try to come and fix things...but usually it doesn't help much. Our washer and dryer is like a guessing game, and the disposal sounds like it is going to die everytime we use it.

There are a couple good things about Courtyard though...the closets are HUGE in a 2 bedroom and the ability to walk to campus is nice.

I am moving out at the end of the month and the worst thing to deal with is the lease! You cannot get out of this lease without finding someone to sublease for you, otherwise you pay for a full year of rent.

If you can find another place to live, I would advise giving it a lot of consideration before signing your life away to Courtyard Apartments!!
