here's my story....I was one of the first people ever to sign a lease at the upperclassman. I picked a pool front room. When I first moved in, my sink didn't even have a pipe attached to it that worked. So anyways, I lived on the fourth floor. That September it rained like every dday. Well, my roof leaked. I dont mean leaked, it rained in my room, everything got destroyed, my clothes, computer, tv, etc. Well I asked to for help. Three weeks, no answer. I got sick. Finally, I called the cabell county health department. They declared it an uninhabitable living environment lol. The owner got so mad at me and yelled and screamed at me threatening me to take me to court. I had videoand pictures of all the damage and water in my room. I recommend NOONE EVER LIVE HERE. They are so shady. P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS

I use to live on the third floor. Every time it rained and I used the back stairways, I noticed water running down the brick. There was also a constant smell of mold in the stairwell. I doubt they have done anything to fix the roof.
I wrote the review a few months back about my deposit not being returned. Had to call the office in NY to get a refund. Seems Eric, the manager, had embezzled a lot of money from the Upperclassman. So that may help explain why the place has turned into an even worse sh*thole.
The new NY company I believe is honest. They are working to give refunds to the other tenants who have moved out and are sympathetic about what has happened. But the apartment complex needs a lot of work before it can be considered inhabitable and safe. The neighborhood is also unsafe. There have been two attacks recently along 4th Avenue, one occuring in the Upperclassman parking lot. I agree with you, and advise anyone considering the UpperClassman to look elsewhere.
