Do NOT rent from McCoy 6

From: -Anonymous-
Date posted: 1/1/2009
Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2009

Things I would have wanted to know before renting from McCoy 6:
1. Rent has steadily increased every year. In 2006, my monthly rate was $490 and parking was free. The past two years monthly rent is $510 and they charge for parking (note: The parking fee is not a specified rate. I paid $600 for 12 months of parking but found out that my neighbor only paid $300.)
2. There are ants everywhere in the apartment.
3. The people in the office are short-tempered, inconsiderate, and money-hungry.
4. The dishwasher and garbage disposal share the same small drain and therefore, the dishwasher is constantly clogged.
5. The stairwells, walkways, and other structures of the building are unsafe. The building is deteriorating and the "repairs" being done and quick and cheap.
6. THE COMPLEX WAS CONDEMNED IN JULY 2008
-I went to work at 9 a.m. one morning and got back to my apartment at 3 p.m. to find a flyer with a notice of codemnation. I had until 5 p.m. that day to move my belongings out of the complex.
-No phone calls, e-mails, or other sources of communication were used to properly notify the tennants about the complex being condemned.
-I had to move my belongings myself, even though the people in the office said that maintenance people would help.
-McCoy 6 moved their tennants to the Augusta to live during this condemnation.
7. THE COMPLEX IS CONDEMNED AGAIN IN DECEMBER 2008.
-While away for Christmas break, I found out that the complex was condemned again. This time, however, I was notified because the condemnation made front page of the local newspaper.
-Again, McCoy 6 failed to notify its tennants by phone.
-As of right now, they don't have anywhere else for us to live.
8. New computer system caused them to lose important information. They sent me a "final notice" in October saying that I owed them thousands in rent or that I would have to attend court when my parents paid for my rent in full soon after i resigned the lease. Yet it was my responsibility to find my receipt to prove that I paid my rent, when they were the ones who lost my information because of a faulty computer system.
