I am a parent, and my daughter lived at the District her sophmore year. I feel the place was a good value for the money with all the utilities included. I don't feel she would have been ready to handle bill paying, etc. The building she lived in didn't have noise etc. Any problems that were called in were taken care of in a relatively timely manner. The only complaint I'd say we had was subletting, so make sure whomever you sign with isn't going to bail on your, or you may end up living with someone you don't mesh with. I must say I preferred writing only one check to cover her living expenses.

No, it's pretty far away. There is a private bus that takes you downtown or to the Med Center or Engineering PRT. It's not always on schedule, though, so if you want to get to class on time, you should be prepared to get on the bus at least 40 minutes before your class starts.
