Antiquated Buildings - Strange Residents
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 8/14/2007
Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
If you're looking for a place to live after retirement, Lakeview Estates may be a good choice.
If you're a young professional, stay far away.
After moving into a 1BR apartment, I had to move into another unit after three months. The reason why' The cable (coax) was old and rotten. I could barely get any digital reception for my cable, and cable Internet was out of the question.
Once I moved into the other apartment, the nearly 40-year-old HVAC unit began to give me trouble. It was in the middle of winter, so the temperatures regularly hit 20* F. This unit was not only inefficient ($300 electric bill in January), but the blower motor was completely worn out; making this unit an effective fire hazard. These antiquated heating/cooling units remain in many apartments. They only replace them when the motors finally fail. They were new in 1969 - when the complex was built.
They have a very small maintenance staff who only work on weekdays.
They offer one (1) washer and one (1) dryer for an entire floor of apartments. There could be as much as 25 people living on one floor, so the laundry can be difficult to take care of. The machines are as small as they come.
This complex appears to be the magnet for all the strange and psychotic people in Parkersburg. It's no place for a young person.
