I lived in Mountainside Apartments for a year and couldn't wait to leave.

There was a man who carpooled with one of the tennants near me who would come every morning at 6:30 and honk his horn 5 or 6 times. I spoke with both the driver and the tennant about a workable solution. I also spoke to the office staff. There was nothing they could or would do, even though the "quiet" policy was 10 PM to 7AM.

The tennants who lived downstairs smoked and that made my apartment smell. Also, the husband was an invalid and stayed home all day, like myself, so he hated us because I have 2 boys who are not school age and you can hear EVERYTHING through the walls. Including 2 little boys who like to wrestle. I felt bad for him.

Speaking of walls, you can hear when your neighbor has a visitor, flushes the toilet, does their laundry, and turns on the heater or TV. The doors are spring hinged so my next door neighbor, who left for work at 4 AM had to be reminded not to let the door slam. That was enough noise to give you a heart attack sometimes.

Maintenence was effecient and curteous. Management was nice to deal with.
Playground, pool, and grounds are kept well. The fitness center/laundry facility has stupid hours (9-5). Parking is tight and sparse. Garages are only $30, though, but you might have to settle with one on the other side of the complex.

Affordable, restricted income housing, but you get neighbors who are low income also, so let that speak for itself.

Fitness center/laundry hours have been updated and extended slightly. Door slamming can be startling the first time you hear it but not all the neighbors do it. We only have one that slams the door and you can feel it although it doesn't wake the babies and you get very used to it. We have 2 garages, both of which were very close to the apartment. I can't hear much of the neighbors but a little thumping music. I have heard the shower turn on downstairs but only when in the bathroom and everything is quiet at 6 am. It just sounds like your heat maybe turned on but you can barely hear it. If your windows are closed, you can't hear much outside.
