Q: Is it usual in DC for management to recommend that tenants install wall-to-wall-carpeting?
A: Honestly, I don't even remember getting that info in my packet when I moved in several years ago, but we changed management companies a few months ago and it might be something the new company recommends. I can tell you that the vast majority of apts here do not have wall-to-wall installed so I wouldn't worry about it unless Community Realty is requiring a hefty deposit to guard against floor damage (and even in that case, losing the deposit is probably still more affordable than installing carpeting at your own expense).
