Resident 2008 - 2009

5/28/2009

I don't know where to begin with this property. I signed a lease to live at Hampton Greene right before I left to study abroad for a semester. While I was away the community came under new management and I was NEVER alerted of this change. The lady I signed the lease with who I thought was very nice and helpful was gone when I got back. When I moved in my bathroom was absolutely disgusting and my mother had to scrub it for an hour to make it look somewhat sanitary. There is one maintenance guy who is really nice but the head guy is TERRIBLE! Hope that when you submit a maintenance request you get the nice one. My downstairs neighbors smoked every night and the fumes came up from my water heater closet and I submitted a request twice to do something about the smell but of course they only come during the day when my neighbors aren't smoking so they always said they see nothing wrong. I would have to pay an extra $25 just to have them come after hours to smell the disgusting cheap cigarette smell. There was definitely a roach problem in my apartment for a good while and finally around the winter it stopped after multiple sprayings around the building. I know another building had some criminals living there because there was a period of a month where the police were always around and inspecting one apartment but were the tenants ever alerted of this issue? OF COURSE NOT! Just like everyone else said the gates rarely work and you have to pay $50 if you lose your gate access card. I lived at Hampton Greene for exactly 12 months and at least once a month there was someone coming through my apartment to do work on it whether it be insulation on the water pipes or painting the buildings this disgusting color of yellow. It was a huge inconvenience to have to move all your stuff so these strangers could walk through your apartment while you're not there to fix something that may or may not need fixing. The guys who insulated the water hoses to the washer left a huge mess of dry wall, too. Also, I think they may be getting rid of their apartment security system since no one uses it. If they haven't taken the system out of your apartment when you move in make sure to unplug it immediately. Mine beeped every 20 minutes and I tried to make the beeping stop and then the siren went off somehow and almost made my ears bleed. The way to unplug it is that huge white plug in block down below it. Unscrew it out of the wall and detach the wires that are on the back side of it. This will shut the entire system off so you don't need to mess with it again.
