Resident 2008 - 2009

it's alright

The apartments are new and that is about all. We got a not-yet-lived in unit so we don't have to wonder what funk is in here making it worth putting up with the other issues. The carpet is white and is difficult to keep clean especially if you have a dog to walk. Our carpet was poorly installed and pulls away from the metal strip that is supposed to keep it down where it meets the hard flooring. It has pulled back and frayed and tore quite a few inches. I tried for 2 months calling the apt manager several times and being stood up by a carpet guy to get it fixed. Eventually I just had to tell them how it was when I was in the office paying rent. They came to look at it and deemed it "pet damage" (as I'm sure they do every bit of wear and tear since everyone has pets). After my husband told her whatfor she agreed to pay for it instead of us. A month later, the carpet is pulling away from the edging again. The "tile-ish" floor in the kitchens is also cheap and coming up at one little edge of a tile. I am just anticipating it to come up all of the way soon. Our a/c air filters are locked in a closet that we don't have a key to. It took 6 months that we were here before anyone came to change it. The folder of information about the apartments that drew us in was a joke. The bark park is small, there are no water bottles in the workout room, people steal the pool table stuff, no vet comes here monthly, and there are no monthly resident activities. Also, the floorplan for the 1 br shows a "pantry" that doesn't actually exist. Other than that, I love all of the big windows, and our particular unit because we have a lot room to walk our dog. Once we requested pest control, we don't have bugs anymore. The gate is alright. It backs up sometimes when people don't have a card to scan. When we moved in in December it was broken and stayed broken for about 2 or 3 months because right after it was fixed someone ran into it again. Anyone can visit our pool. You can park in front of the building and just help yourself. They sent out "pool agreements" that we were to sign and turn in for a "pool pass" which ended up being a plastic livestrong-type bracelet that said "pool pass". I've never seen anyone checking for "pool passes" at the pool. It took them awhile to notice that summer had come and the grass was growing faster so we had to deal with very tall grass for a couple of weeks. Back to the office staff- maintance is awesome. As for everyone else, they're not. Since we've been here, we've gone through 3 or so office manager and at one of those times they seemed to have completely changed the entire staff. It was about time they had replaced useless staff as they didn't even know how much we were to pay for rent. At one point, they sent a notice on our door saying we owed them $5! and we had been paying the same amount consistently. When I tried to set things straight with the new mgmt, she had no idea about the "move in special" that was offered back in Oct. 2008. It was to sign a 12 month lease and either get one month free and pay $749 for 11 months of just pay $699 for all 12. Now, strangely, rent is up to $809 or $820 depending on what internet source you look at. They say there are restrictions on dog breeds. You can bring your pit bulls and no one cares. When I was in the office taking a dog off of my lease, the office manager announced "the new manager might want to look to make sure there REALLY IS only one dog!" The noise, I wouldn't say it's so bad. Just like any other apartment. You can somtimes hear the person in the next door apartment snore at night, or flush their toilet. Sometimes there are kids running up and down stairs yelling and screaming. Basically, it'd be best to have an older apartment complex with lower rent that you know will hold up! But if you have a big dog and need an apt, your dog is allowed here.
