Resident 2006 - 2007

6/7/2007

I seem to have terrible apartment karma (outside of Murfreesboro. If you can stand the commute into Nashville, Murfreesboro is the place to be!) I made the mistake of taking the ONLY apartment Colonial Village had open - just overlooking the basketball court and volleyball pit. Okay, positives first: Hendersonville is great and the location to the by-pass is excellent. The commute has improved since the completion of I-65 and they have done tons of renovations to this complex. The leasing agents are top-notch, but the management are clueless (I'll get to that). The maintenance team is great, especially the new guy Richard. The apartments are spacious and comfortable. The electric bill is affordable (and I've had some whopper electric bills at other places). All in all, I am comfortable there, but I am moving to be closer to Downtown. It gets tiresome driving everydays- sometimes twice a day-into downtown, its just my preference to be closer. Okay, here are the downfalls of Colonial Village: the day I moved in, NOTHING was clean. I'm talking FILTHY. The bathroom has never been quite clean, and I am NOT a neat freak. I'm allergic to mold and mildew and this bathroom was COVERED. I mentioned it on my sign-off sheet while moving in and nothing was ever done about it. I've just kept it up best I can and left it alone. Spiders are a problem everywhere in TN, let me just throw that out there. I have only seen a few here personally. They do not enforce keeping the breezeways clean and people often leave pizza boxes outside. I have had to call maintenance on my HVAC unit a couple of times, but nothing really to whine about. They did replace my filthy, broken blinds when I demanded it. All in all, maintanence and staff are NOT the problem. Its MANAGEMENT AND RESIDENTS. I have called in several complaints have never been recorded. When confronted, the management team had no idea what I was talking about because no one wrote it down as is the complex policy. Also, its next to IMPOSSIBLE to break the lease. Rent keeps going up and its a ridiculous price for being on the county line right by Rivergate. I understand its Hendersonville, but its not in the nice part of Hendersonville. Want super nice? Move next door or down the street. I asked to be moved to another unit and they wanted to charge me a $500 fee if I didn't wait until the end of my lease. And even then, the within-complex transfer fee is $150. (paperwork was the claim). AND ... someone opened a 12 pack of beer and poured it down my door. I called in twice to ask someone to please pressure spray my door (because there was no way that sticky mess was coming from my scrubbing), but no one has done a damn thing. The people here are some of the most inconsiderate people I have ever lived near. EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER PROCREATED LIVES IN THIS COMPLEX. If you can't stand kids, stay away. Actually, these kids might be the ----- incarnate. They scream from balconies, scream at each other, scream for no reason, are let loose by their parents to play in the street, stay out until all hours of the night, n*&%^^ knock on your door, run up and down stairs ... seriously, its mostly the kids that are driving me out of here. And I LOVE children. My upstairs neighbor has two dogs that play grab---- all night and she stomps after them. That's tolerable to an extent, but they have no record of my three or four complaints on her in the office. They are currently closing the pools because people are letting their dogs in them. Parking you'll just have to deal with ... people have folks over and they park as close as they can, but that is everywhere I've ever been. After my complaints, they decided to raise my rent and my water. Reedemingly, the water is a set fee, so use all you want. The hot water will scaled the hell out of you though, so be careful. Water pressure is a plus here for sure. In closing, I have to say I'm half and half about this place. Its an okay distance from N'ville, but not close enough for me after having to deal with everyones kids day in and day out. If you ask for a unit far from the pools and courtyards, you might like it here. Hendersonville is nice if you are ready to settle down and buy a house. 50/50 for Colonial Village. Ask for Heather if you are leasing, she's really nice. But if you want peace and quite, move to Murfreesboro. I have never been happier than I was in Applegate and Oak Park.
