Golfballs

Resident ā€¢ 1999 - 2002

Do not rent an apartment here and if you do make sure you are as far away from the golf course as possible. I know you say why did I pick an apartment by a golf course, because of course there would be stuff broken, but I was assured by the lease agent that they didn't have any problems with golf balls. BIG FAT LIE. We lived there longer than I wanted to, because we were trying to get a home and it took awhile. During the 3 and a half years, we had our window busted by a golf ball at least 8 if not more times. We also had my aunt hit in the head by one while on our front porch and we didn't have a golf course view. Sure they would fix the window, sometimes a few days later. But we could never go anywhere for fear the window would get broken and all our things would be stolen and/or our cat would get loose. After many dealings with them, they put a netting around our porch area, to protect visitors, like my aunt. That of course was months, if not a year after the incident. But nothing was ever done about the windows. I also saw countless cars with broken windows. I also heard from maintenance workers about people being hit by a golf ball while swimming. They wouldn't put up a net by the course, because they said it was the golf course's responsibility and then the golf course said it was the apartment's responsibility.

And if that was the only problem, then I wouldn't be writing this. We also had termites, bad. They never got rid of them completely. They would supposedly call someone out and we would quit seeing the holes forming in our wall and the next thing we knew, a few months later there would be new holes. They were little holes, where the termites would push out this black stuff, really gross. All I could think of was that they would soon start eating my bed. Then there were the neighbors. They never stayed very long. There were 3 other apartments on our side, and in the years we had several new neighbors. Just next door to us changed tenants about 5 times. The one above us about the same if not more. And there were some real winners there. We had one set up people who couldn't count that only one car was allowed under the carport. They would put all three and nothing was done except letters written to them. They left a window open when they ran out on the rent and the water starting pouring into our bedroom. We had several people who you could tell were probably running out on the rent, but I know for sure about another set who lived above us, because of another problem that happened. All of a sudden all the outside lights and carport lights by us went out, which I reported and they never fixed it, after several weeks of me complaining they realize what had happened. And what had happened was the family above us had run out on bills and their electricity was cut off and it turns out that their meter was the one running the outside lights. Now this apartment complex is about 25 years old, so for that long a tennant has been paying that light bill without knowing it. It took them at least a month or more to get it fixed.

Then they would come into your apartment without telling you. Yes, there was a reason and in this case it was a broken window, but a note would have been nice to tell me that they were there. Because what happened was that I later found glass in the carpet and couldn't figure out where it was from.

It was bad. Now, I'm sure others have been in worse apartments, but when you are paying the money that you do for Nashboro Village you expect more. Our rent started at $775 and went up almost every year. And we were in the cheap apartments there.

Don't live here. Yes it's pretty, but don't be fooled by that.
