Resident 2011

7/13/2011

Where should I start? I lived in 3 different units in the time that I lived at Stewarts Ferry. Out of 3 I had 2 water heaters go bad, which are located in the ceiling (why anyone would do that I don't know), so not only did the water heater have to be replaced but so did the ceiling. Maintenence staff is great and they do work hard to get things done, it's just really inconvenient when it happens more than once. I continually got notes on the door about car jackings, car break-ins, and apartment break-ins. I even had a vehicle stolen, and I know it's not the properties responsibility, but they acted as if they could care less. The water bill there was horrible. They went by the square footage of your apartment and wasn't metered individually or even split between the buildings. So you could have 1 person living in a larger apartment and they have to pay more than 2 people living in a smaller one. I'm sorry but $60 is ridiculous for one person to pay for water/sewer/trash. The apartments were poorly insulated and the electric bill was alway high. Also, if you have pets, stay away! You pay a pet deposit and the amount is depending on if you have one or two, which is not a big deal. But you also have to pay pet rent $20/month per pet. What this goes towards, I have no clue. I don't even know what the deposit goes towards cause when you move out you'll see that it doesn't go to if they have to replace the carpet. So say in a year if you pay pet deposit for 2 and pet rent your spending somewhere around $800 for basically just letting your pets be there. Oh, and if you look at their weight restrictions that's not per pet. It's combined if you have more than one. The cost of rent is too high for the location and the age of the property. The fitness center is a complete joke. You can find better apartments in better locations, that are pet friendly and you only pay a deposit and can have any weight, newer construction, energy efficient appliances, great fitness centers, quiet and safe without ever having to deal with any sort of break-in, and a water bill that is done the right way for about the same amount you'd pay in rent at Stewarts Ferry. Do your research on this place. It may look pleasing to the eye when looking at the landscaping, but it's not so fabulous once you get in there for a while. Much happier where I am now.
