I can't wait to move out

I always loved visiting friends at these apartments. When I decided to move here I could not be more excited. We found a great deal for the square footage and it had a HUGE patio. But, our problems began the day we moved in in August. The elevators were broken, lights did not work in our apartment, the door stopper was missing so when the door swung open it put a hole in our wall, and towel racks in the bathroom were missing. They fixed everything rather quickly so we didn't mind. Only after a week or so of being moved in the construction started, I have no idea what they were doing but it looked like a movie set outside our apartment and it took up our ENTIRE patio. This was a big selling point of our apartment and we couldn't even step foot on it until the construction was finished in November...and then it was cold. The biggest problem in this apartment was the air conditioning. We were told our bills would be around $50 a month. We thought this was really low but that's what they said. The first bills were $100-$150. Our air went out over Labor day weekend, it took them 4 days to get someone out. Our air continued to go out 6 more times over the course of 8 months! We kept talking to the people in the leasing office, complaining about our $220 electricity bills and that our AC kept going out. Only once did they lower our bill $60. They were NO help. We kept telling them our AC never shuts off and that's why our bills are so high. They said we were wrong. Finally, after the 6th time it went out a maintenance repair worker said there was something wrong with the thermostat and that if it was set between 72 and 76 (which is what most normal people have it set at!) that the air never cut off. Gee, isn't that what we were telling them ALL along. Our next bill went down $100! And then it went out again, ridiculous. We also had problems with our garbage disposal, kitchen sink water pressure, the drawer under the oven was broken, we probably submitted around 20 maintenance requests for the 10 1/2 months I have lived there. There is always something going on with maintenance in these apartments. They are constantly coming into your apartment to check something, repaint something, there is not a day I leave for work that there isn't a work truck outside the parking garage and people tending to the outside of the apartments. I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone, they tell you things when they are trying to get you to sign the lease which are untrue. Once they have you in they could care less about your time there. There is no customer service. I can't wait to move out in August and I'm just praying the AC doesn't go out again before then!
