I have lived in Casa De Warren in Amarillo twice. The first time I lived there back from 2005 though 2006, the management was the worst. I always paid my rent early yet Jimmy and Ida where the most strict and intrusive managers that I have ever had to deal with. No more than 2 guests in the pool area, don't leave your door open for more than a few seconds, constantly questioning me if my occasional overnight guest was "Living with me" even though my contract clearly stated that I could have a guest for free for up to 3 weeks without notice. The hidden fee in the deposit. I gave them a $200 deposit. When I turned in my 30 day notice, I thoroughly cleaned the apt before I moved out. It was cleaner than before I moved in. 6 weeks later, they send me a check for $140. Charged me $60 for a cleaning fee which they claimed was in my contract. It was. Hidden on the pages in between which I never got a copy of. Overall, my experience there was a little more difficult than I felt it should have been.
Early in 2010, I was forced to move back to Casa De Warren. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it was under new grounds management. Lee and Maggie are the best. Understanding and friendly. No strict run of the place. I have had numerous overnight guests over and never been questioned about them once. I always pay my rent on time and the one time I was 3 days late, not as much as a note on the door. They don't mind that I have more than one guest in the pool area. The apartments are still clean although the unit I now reside in has a small roach problem. The deposit this time was $75 and not $200. I, sadly, just turned in my 30 day notice again as I have bought a house. But, anyone that is single or newlywed and not planning family, of limited means or little furniture, this is a great place to live to get on your feet. The staff is great, the tennants are friendly and I will miss some of them when I move.
