Resident 2003

6/26/2003

My biggest gripe about living at this complex was the noise level, mostly from children playing in the courtyards, pools, and parking lots. It reaches a new level of annoyance in the summertime, when the noise-level continues well into the night.

Also, the walls are paper-thin, so you´ll be able to hear unpleasant bathroom noises from upstairs, your neighbors talking to their Aunt Mary in Monterrey, arguments from the other units, and unwanted insight into their lovelives.

The units themselves are older and shoddily maintained. The walls of my particular unit had layers of paint slapped on them, even to the point of spotting the carpeting and sealing some cupboards shut.

The security gate system is a joke. Access is gained via magnetic cards (100 bucks a pop if you lose them) or by simply driving up and waiting for someone to let you in. The gates were often not working, anyway.

Management was pretty indifferent most of the time, unless they had thought up a new regulation to slap onto folks. They just instituted a new parking policy requiring tenants to keep a decal on their windshields or face towing. I´ve yet to see a tow truck on the premises -- everyone and their grandmother seems to be able to get in and park.
