Resident ā€¢ 2012 - 2013

8/22/2013

Well, I can say I generally enjoyed my stay at Champion's Crossing until Pinnacle took over earlier this year. Since then, everything has really gone downhill. Here's the inside scoop on Champion's Crossing as of late: Pros: -Close to an H-E-B, ACC, and several fast food restaurants. -Rent as of this moment is reasonable ($715 for a 1/1) but from what I understand anyone leasing with Pinnacle now will be paying almost $100 than that. -Washer/dryer connections. Cons: -Not the safest area. Someone had their apartment broken into and was assaulted in broad daylight in early 2013. You could hear the screams all the way across the courtyard. My roommate's car was broken into on one occasion. There are also sketchy characters regularly hanging out in the parking lots at night. You can check out Trulia or APD crime reports online to see that the Metric location in general is not the best. -Paper thin walls. I know everyone says that, but I am regularly woken up in the middle of the night by my upstairs neighbor trudging around and opening the sliding door. -ROACHES. My apartment is immaculate (clean floors and counters and no trash, food, or dirty clothes out) and I literally cannot turn on the kitchen light at night without seeing la cucaracha scampering over the counters. In addition to having 8 roach baits set out at any given time, my apartment has been sprayed almost every week for the past two months and the roach problem has ceased to go away. -Poorly maintained grounds. I have stepped in dog poop countless times since living here. Doggy trash bags are provided but seeing as there are only 2 trash cans throughout the entire courtyard I almost can't blame people for not making the walk to dispose of pet waste. -Poorly maintained pool. This week there was an excrement-like substance in the pool (see photo) for two days before the apartment management even bothered to have it fished out. The pool is always murky and in my opinion it's not in the best interest of your health to swim here. -Rude/incompetent staff. What's new? Literally a new staff member in the office every week. Generally uncaring about resident concerns. Never call you back when they say they will. Since Pinnacle took over residents cannot pay rent online. You can also now be charged a $50 fee for having a "poorly maintained" plant on your porch, in addition to other such atrocities as camping chairs, bowls for pet food, or a towel. Yes, that towel will cost you $50. Overall, I don't recommend. Champion's Crossing was decent despite the neighborhood when Lincoln owned it but Pinnacle really doesn't seem to care about residents or this community whatsoever.
