Resident ā€¢ 2003 - 2004

7/10/2003

This review is an update to one I left at the beginning of my lease in July 2003. When I initially left the review, I had nothing but good things to say about the staff, maintenance, and grounds. Now, a year later, I stand behind everything I said before. The staff has never been anything but nice to me and knows me by my first name. They don't even have to ask what apartment I am in! The maintenance is still great, and Clinton always has a smile and a wave when he sees you driving by. Parking continues to be great; I've never had to park in front of another building to get to my apartment. The grounds are always kept clean, and I have never felt unsafe walking around or coming home late at night (granted I have a great dog that likes to intimidate strangers). The prices are great and very competitive, and the complex is still very quiet. I can only think of a handful of times I have been awakened by others, and that is because I sleep with my windows open many nights.

I have read others' complaints about high utility bills and whatnot. I lived in the middle sized 1 bedroom and shared it with my sister. My water bill was never over $20 and my electricity was never over $65. I also never had any trouble with cabinets or any other piece of the apartment falling apart.

As far as the management being analytical with their walk throughs: that's their job. You can't expect to trash the place and leave it in a worse condition than it was when you moved in then get your full deposit back. All they ask is that you clean up your messes and move everything out and try your best to leave it the way you found it. I did just this and I received my full deposit back. If you actually put forth an effort the staff is more than accommodating and will even give you paint to touch up your scuffs and nail holes on the walls.

Cons:
Lack of storage space: Finding a place for everything in the kitchen is tough at times, and my vacuum cleaner lives in this little nook next to my bathroom.
Older appliances: Purely aesthetic. Everything works great. My unit has a digital AC that has never needed maintenance. Some units have had the appliances updated, so this might not even be an issue.
Pet Policy: This was the reason I moved out of my apartment. Management doesn't allow anything over 45 pounds and you can only have 1 dog, 2 cats, or 1 dog and 1 cat. CC is the only Lincoln property not to accept multiple dogs, so I had to leave. Pricewise, the deposit is fair: $300, $150 refundable, and is payable over 3 months.

Fortunately, these are the only things I can come up with that are negative about this place. This place is a great one for people who are looking for affordable pricing and decent amenities. They are not luxurious, but I didnt' expect that when I signed the lease. You can't expect to live in the lap of luxury when you pay under $500 a month for an apartment when other, upscale places can charge closer to $1000. I definitely recommend Champion's Crossing to anyone.
