Resident 2013 - 2014

8/12/2014

Lived here for a year, at first things looked great! The apartment itself was certainly nicer than any I had lived in before but considering I was living down Riverside, that's not saying much. The appliances and counters looked quite nice and the walk-in closet was spacious. I felt that I had plenty of room and the inclusion of washer/dryer hookups was a huge factor for me. That being said, be prepared to rent a W/D for about $35 a month in addition to your base rent. I lived on the second floor of building 16. I suspect the floors/ceiling are incredibly thin/in need of repair. They creek pretty much everywhere you step. I could hear BOTH of my neighbors above and below at all hours. Granted, I do believe that they just were loud in general. I called the police for noise complaints very, very often and as far as I could tell, nothing changed. Now, loud neighbors aren't necessarily the apartment complex's fault so I could chalk that up to my bad luck, but I could hear even small things very clearly such as a dog scampering in the apartment above me. It sounded like a small dog but I could still hear its movements distinctly. I also believe that my upstairs neighbor had a TV running all day (literally). You could hear it throughout the night. Sometimes, I'd eventually fall asleep from pure exhaustion at 2 AM or so and would still hear it when I got up for work at 8 AM. Let's not even talk about the huge ground shaking music playing from my downstairs neighbors occasionally. One time, I even got to enjoy a great episode of American Horror Story as if it was being played from a TV in my own apartment. It's a good thing I like AHS =/ Maintenance seemed pretty hit or miss to me. I've had 3-4 issues that needed to be fixed and for the most part it got down within a week or so. Two issues, however were never resolved. My garbage disposal just flat out didn't work most of the time and would also spew garbage whenever I would run the dishwasher. Multiple maintenance requests and it was not successfully fixed so I gave up on that. The pipes leading to the toilet also started leaking in my last 6 months there. Again, multiple maintenance request and the issue was never properly resolved. As for the office staff, the manager herself seemed great! She was helpful when I moved in and any time I spoke to her in person in the office. However, the rest of the staff are barely functional. They're there yes and I've never walked in on them just wasting time or looking idle. However, they over all did not seem like they knew what they were doing and were slow to complete simple tasks. That being said, the staff were probably the best part of living here. Location for me was great! It's close by to Target and I-35 and 290. There was an easy route to UT campus that avoided all of the horrendous congestion of Southbound 35. In the end, I still would not recommend living here due to the high level of noise and incompetent maintenance staff.
