Resident 2013 - 2014

3/14/2014

I relocated to the area site unseen and used an apartment finding service. This was one of the only locations with availability. For the most part, it was a good place to live. There have been issues, but I think that can be said for any property management company. I was a little put off by Denise when I signed my lease. She seemed to talk down to me, because I had never lived in an apartment before. I was a home owner before I moved. However, every time I dealt with the office after signing the lease, they were very polite and helpful. I never had an issue with any of the ladies. I did take several pictures of damage to the floor, walls, etc when I moved in. So when I move out, I have proof I didn't cause the damage. I haven't gotten my deposit back, but I'm going to ask for a walk-through when I leave. As for mgmt as a whole, when I have a problem, they typically take care of it. Though my ice machine in the freeze broke before Thanksgiving, and it's still not fixed. My ice has a bad taste. They put sealer on the freezer door (which helps keep it shut), but it did not fix the problem. I've told them this 4 times, but it's still not resolved. Maintenance is supposed to leave a work order that they were in your place on the counter, but the first 3 times they came in, there wasn't one. Other than that, maintenance and management is very nice. I lived in a 1x1, on the first floor. My upstairs neighbor when I first moved in was quiet. I had no issues with that. For the last 3 months, there has been a new neighbor and it sounds like an elephant above me. I hear their dog scratching at the floor all the time. I have spoken to management once about it, but there's not much they can do. You can hear through the walls, though. The bathroom is in the bedroom, and it's only 1/2 a walk a in closet. Much smaller than I anticipated. It's in a nice area, right between MoPac and I-35N, south of Parmer 1/2 mile. The airport was 27 minutes away. The Domain is about 3 miles. Lots to do around me. Great location for someone who wanted to be near things, but not into the downtown scene. While I didn't have any crime happen, there was a man in the same building who had the tailgate of his truck stolen. The vending machines in the laundry rooms had damage from people trying to steal the money. The laundry facilities seems a little high in price ($1.25/ wash and $1.25/ dry), and always seemed dirty (be careful not to drop your clothes on the ground). I used the coinless laundry next door as it was cheaper ($1.65/wash and $.25/ 8 min dry). Only some units have a washer/dryer. The police station is about 1/4 mile away, as is a LARGE hospital. But you can't hear the sirens. I felt safe in my area and comfortable as a single woman. Overall, I'd recommend the place. Know that it's a very small unit. 516sq feet did not fit my 1 bedroom stuff.
