Resident 2007 - 2008

2/20/2008

When we were looking for a 2/2 close to downtown, we thought this place was great. Our tour guide via golf cart was nice and knowledgeable. But, once we signed the lease, let the games begin. On move in day, the carpet was still wet and the apartment was a huge disappointment. The kitchen cabinets smelled of vanilla candle at one end, with black burned wax coating the underneath, to an ashtray at the other end. A can of white spray paint to mask the smell was the maintenance resolution. The back door was covered in mold. The kitchen floor was filthy. The toilets had piss down the front of them. Too many patch jobs on the walls and doors to count from previous holes. The fixtures are cheap and some are cracked. But we cleaned, and hoped for the best. The noise level is an increasing problem. The noise you hear depends on your neighbor. We had one person above us who was quite as a mouse. But the new people, we can tell when they take a shower, use the restroom, use the garbage disposal, vacuum the carpet, etc. We are on the first floor and our bedrooms have air conditioning units outside of them. Never in a previous apartment did we hear the units like we do here. Our bedroom walls actually vibrate when they are on and you hear a very loud hum. When we brought it to the offices attention, we were treated like we were ludicrous. They would stand in our room and say, Well I don t think it is that loud. They told us they could not put any insulation in the wall. Long story short, we had to put a shelf next to the wall and line pillows and blankets between it and the wall to try to muffle the noise. We even lined the window with insulation boards to try to cut down the noise. They just started charging each tenant a monthly fee to make them a pretty monthly statement that incorporates your rent, trash and water charges. PLEASE! And the parking .. We have a garage and we were told PRIOR to deciding to move in and after moving in that we could park behind our garage. This was a big asset when choosing this property due to the VERY limited parking spaces around the apartments. We brought to the attention of the office that the fire lane was extended more on our side of the building than the opposite side and asked if there was something they could do because we were concerned the more we parked there. Well, just as expected, we were treated like we were vermin. Since the office personnel changes more than a normal roll of toilet paper, the girl who rented the apartment to us is gone. Since she is gone, they can t verify she said we could park there and as usual they were very condescending. They act like we are trying to fraud them when we tell them we were told we could park there. They said there is nothing they can do and then proceeded to turn it around like it is our fault that we did not get it in writing from her or ask about it sooner. I thought in this world people and businesses stood by their word and put the customer first. NOT THIS PLACE. We are going to move as soon as we can.
