Take the bad with the good

I lived there for almost a year. It switched management while I was there so that was kind of hectic. First of all the apartments are old, so things are expected to break. Although, I don't think everything is supposed to break. While I lived there our kitchen flooded, the bathrooms flooded twice, our air conditioner broke 5 times, we had a gas leak, our back porch flooded everytime it rained and our dishwasher broke. The maintenance was always nice, even if it took them a while to fix something. Which happened often. We were without a dishwasher for 2 weeks, without AC for 3 or 4 days at a time and were unable to use our bathrooms for a week while they tried to fix them. My roommate actually moved out early because she was so frustrated with everything breaking all the time. The answering service that answered emergency maintenance calls when the office was closed was always rude. They were always short with me and weren't friendly at all. If you plan on sleeping in, don't get an apartment by the pool! Once spring time hits there will be screaming children outside your apartment all day. There are kitchen roaches, but only during the summer and early fall. Once it gets cold outside they die off. Keep your apartment clean and it shouldn't be a problem. The floor plan we had was really spacious. The bedrooms were a decent size. The manager was always nice when we had to go talk to her. I just think there was always lack of communication between the staff and the maintenance people. Our maintenance slips would get lost sometimes and we would have to call repeatedly to get something fixed. They also had a few maintenance problems in the complex. They would have to shut off water or gas lines to fix it. That only happened once every couple of months though. Everything else was okay. We never really had a problem with parking. Although, while they were fixing up the exterior of the apartments our covered parking space had ply wood in it for a month or so. Our neighbors were nice. They were fairly quiet. The management always took Forever to cash my rent check! They took 6 or 7 days to cash it. The rent was cheap, and so were the apartments. The statement stands true: You get what you pay for.
