Resident 2011 - 2015

3/25/2015

My husband and I have lived here in the Bend for almost 4 years now (getting ready to go on our 5th) and have been so pleased with our time here. We love our apartment, and even though we've thought about moving a couple times, we just haven't felt the need to pull ourselves out of such a decent home (especially since we got in at a good rate). We'll stay here as long as possible until our debts are paid off and we can buy a house. We've never had a problem with staff or anyone when going in to discuss a matter, and they've always done everything they can when we have a complaint. For example, we suddenly started having a roach problem around a year ago and didn't know why or what the cause was. We went in and discussed the matter with Krystal in the office, telling them we'd have to leave if it couldn't be remedied (mostly because we're expecting our first baby). She was insistent that we shouldn't just deal with it and that we work together to figure out the problem and how to remedy it. Since then we've been having regular treatments, they found the source of the problem (someone else living in unsanitary conditions), and she even had maintenance/contractors come to seal up any cracks or openings in the apartment. She's also kept in contact each week to make sure it's going well, and we've definitely seen improvement. I believe we'll see the problem eliminated in the next month or two. So that's just one recent example of how great the staff is. The noise level of our unit is all right. We do hear our neighbor's music frequently, as well as general movement, but it's not unusually disturbing for an apartment. We live right next to the street, so there's bound to be noise. It's not unbearable though, and my husband isn't afraid to yell at someone if it's late and they're blaring music. The grounds of the Village community are always kept nice and clean (they even decorate around the holidays), maintenance requests gets taken care of in a timely manner, and even though the building is older and slightly outdated, it's comfortable. Being on the second floor and facing the sun when it's setting, it does get pretty warm in the summer, but we've made it each year without too much discomfort. Our unit isn't as luxurious as some other parts of Dallas or the newly built apartments, but I'm happy where we're at and everything works fine. The best part I have to say is how sweet and friendly all the maintenance guys are (a rare gem in apartment life). I had 3 of them in our home today and never felt uncomfortable. Robert is particularly great, and my husband and I are always happy to see him. Location is great as it's close to everything and not too close to downtown. You do have to be mindful about your belongings since 5-points (a not-so-nice part of town) is just across Hwy 12 (we had a bike stolen off our porch and our old Jeep was stolen once, but thankfully was recovered). There are always events and fun community stuff (although we haven't participated in that much), and there are plenty of perks that you get for living here. The only thing that would make our place better is if we could have pets, but that's definitely not a deal-breaker for us.
