Resident ā€¢ 2011 - 2012

7/6/2012

I am a current resident and have recently renewed my lease. I was disappointed that my rent went up, but it was more of a hassle to move. Cons: 1) This is the biggest complaint I have, and also the most important. If you are a hot-natured person I would suggest weighing the pros and cons very carefully before moving in. The AC in my apartment is not that great. My apartment is very small 668 square feet, so it should not be that hard to keep cool. I don t keep my windows open and I leave my blinds shut. There is ONE AC vent that cools the living room, entry way, dining room and kitchen. My AC is constantly running in order to keep the main part of my house at 75 degrees. The bedroom is not that bad because it has a vent and a ceiling fan which helps a lot. The living room does not have the connection abilities to have a ceiling fan. There is usually at least a 10 degree difference between the bedroom and the living room. When I have people over they always complain it s hot, but there is nothing I can do because my AC has been running all day. It s just impossible for one vent to cool such a large area. It would be better if the living room had a ceiling fan so the air could get circulated. 2) The lazy side of me enjoys the valet trash pickup, but my building is right next to the dumpsters and I can walk to the dumpsters in less than a minute. Because of that I hate having to pay $16 a month on something I can easily do myself. I wish it wasn t mandatory. I also agree with what another person wrote about taking our $16 and putting it towards a better breakfast. 3) Not a lot of storage space. I have a pretty big balcony and I have seen a lot of apartments that put a small storage closet on the balcony, but not this apartment. 4) It s not the most friendly atmosphere. I know people aren t here to make friends but I have lived here a year and have yet to meet some of the neighbors on my floor. Pros: 1) I have never had an issue with parking. Around my building I feel there is ample amount of spaces to park. I do wish they had covered parking like a lot of other apartments in the area. My car received hail damage just a couple weeks ago from a storm and the summer heat takes a toll on my car. 2) Small breakfast on Saturdays. Now I do miss the big breakfast they had once a month. Now, it s usually doughnuts or muffins, but at the same time I don t know of many apartments that have breakfast at all, so even a small one is nice. 3) The pool is a decent size so I hardly ever find it crowded with people. 4) The cardio room is good and they keep it very cold in there for you while you work out. 5) I LOVE having the park next to the apartments. It has a great running trail that I use frequently. The downfall to having the park is the noise sometimes. People like to play soccer in the park and sometimes they play their music really really loud. But I ll take the noise over not having the park any day. 6) I read one comment about the noise from the hospital. My apartment faces the park, and yes I do hear ambulances every now and then, but for the most part I hardly ever hear them. 7) I live on the 3rd floor and it was a huge incentive to move here when I heard they will pay up to $300 for a moving company to move you up to the 3rd floor. They only do this if your moving to the 3rd floor.
