Not bad, could be better
Overall, I'm pleased with my experience at DP&L. I've been there for eight months now, and while it's far from perfect, I've gotten pretty much the downtown living experience I wanted. I've become accustomed to the downtown noise, including the drunk people leaving nearby nightclubs, and all the yapping dogs. They've started a new thing with the other Trigon properties, basically a roving Saturday party that starts at DP&L, moves to Mosaic, and winds up at Davis. Though the free food and beer are welcome and the music is pleasantly eclectic, the crowd that showed up at the first was definitely not my crowd: pretty-boy frat guys and swishy gay men, almost all of whom smoke. (I'm a laid-back, non-smoking ---- of average looks.) So while I didn't stay too long at the DP&L iteration, nor did I follow it to Mosaic, it was reasonably fun. And it's not like they had to do it. Maintenance issues have been cleared up relatively quickly, the building is mostly clean, management is decent, if a little difficult to get in touch with. Difficulties: visitor parking is limited to street spaces and the Neiman Marcus garage; visitors can't get to the apartments without a key faub; noisy dogs and owners who don't clean up their dogs' poop; flaky Time Warner cable/internet service; noisy A/C unit in my bedroom closet. If they raise my rent by more than 5% or so when my lease is up, I'll probably move, since I'm already paying more than I ought to in rent. At the same time, though, I like being downtown, close to CVS and Urban Market, and three blocks away from the DART rail.Share This Review
