Resident ā€¢ 2005 - 2007

8/13/2007

Don t move here! It is a money pit! I moved here in April 2005 and my rent was very reasonable $830 which does not include water or trash or garage. When I signed a new lease in April of 2006 my rent went up $30 bucks, the water went up from $3 dollars to $27 dollars and they added a new trash fee of $7 a month. My neighbor that lives across the hall, (which we are good friends), her rent went up only $10 dollars 5 months later (Sept). The office claims it depends on what time of the year you sign your lease which is a bunch of bull. In Feb 2007 I called the leasing office to find out how much my rent would increase they told me they are under new management and I would need to call back the next week. GO FIGURE! So I waited 2 weeks and called again, only to be pushed back to the end of March. I wanted to see what the increase would so I could determine if I would stay or move. I SHOULD HAVE MOVED because I found out the end of April they wanted to increase my rent by $90 bucks. NINTY BUCKS for a ------ apartment! I told them they were out of their mind and was pissed. She called back and said the lowest she can go is $50 so I took it. In order for her to approve the $50 dollar increase I would have to sign the new lease that day. Mind you the new lease was not effective until June 30th. She had me sign it 2 months before my old lease was up. I should have moved! I will be moving when my current lease is up because each week the rules change. We went from remotes to the gates (that are always open) to a card you have to swipe, like in an office building so therefore you almost run into the curb to get close to the machine and the card has to almost touch it to open the gate. With all the rain lately you end up getting half your body soaked and the inside of you car soaked as well. Last week we got a note on our doors that the gates in the back of the complex will only be used for emergency medical vehicles only. I am curious to see how many wrecks happen outside the front of the apartments due to people trying to get in and traffic getting backed up and people trying to leave and cutting across Frankford. That is the worst thing the apartments could have changed. FOR WHAT! No explanation was given. It is very inconvience for those of us who live in the back and who pick our kids up at McWhorter (schools sucks too, it s a low income school incase you wanted to know). About 4 months ago my truck was broken into and I reported it to the office and they acted shocked and said that was unusual that it never happens at Gates De Provence which was a freakin lie cause my neighbor in the building beside me got his TRUCK stolen 5 months before mine was broken into. People are always throwing trash in the back of my truck, throwing trash in the parking lot from the dinner meal the night before. Don t go the pool. I swear everyone and their momma, grandma, uncle, aunties and all 20 kids are their hogging the pool. I thought there was a 2 visitor rule per apartment. Come Sunday evenings the pool is NASTY .no telling what they did in the pool! If something breaks in your apartment, you might as well fix it yourself because it will take them a month to fix it or they will fix it and it will break again because they did a lazy --- job. This is the most expensive place I have ever lived in and the WORST place I have lived it. So if you think because your paying $1040.00 a month, don t think your gonna live in something nice.
