Resident ā€¢ 2014

5/15/2014

I was a resident at Haverly Park from 2013-2014. I first want to start off by saying that I am not sure what incentive the posters received to post all of the extremely positive reviews, or maybe it was Jimmy himself, but I really can't say anything positive about Haverly Park and was actually counting down the days until my lease was up and since moving I feel like a dark cloud has been lifted. I am pretty open minded about where I live and grew up in a not so great area but Haverly Park was the only place I lived where I did NOT feel safe, especially having a child. I used to work nights and got followed by a man to my door one night. One morning we woke up to a stray cat giving birth to kittens on our patio. The stray cats in phase 1 are abundant, along with the smell of their feces. A person in the building next to use was a hoarder and had trash and pans of grease sitting on their patio, which we had to constantly walk by and as many complaints as I put in over an 8 month timeframe it was never addressed. Children wreak havoc in the community and like to destroy planters, light fixtures, and throw rocks at sliding doors. Inside the apartments are not any better. No matter how many candles you light, how much incense you burn and how much cleaning you do, you cannot get rid of this smell that I can't even describe. Maintenance failed to do much about the hole that appeared to be punched in the wall prior to us moving in. It looked as if they used masking tape to cover it and painted over it. I know that the new management team says they are doing a lot to better the community, but over the course of the year I feel that the people who worked in the office changed out at least twice. I rarely saw the same people in there. Oh, and speaking of the office, their accountant is terrible. I feel that every month I received some sort of notice that I didn't pay all of my balance and had to call and straighten that out. Also, work orders took an act of God to get completed. We didn't have a kitchen light for nearly a month. Crime in the area is awful, which isn't Haverly Park's fault, but it shocks me that they FINALLY decided a fence may be necessary. My advice to potential residents is to STAY AWAY FROM HAVERLY PARK.
