I'm sorry the last poster has had such a bad experience at an apartment. I believe they have the wrong place (Vail Village is right next door, and does have a few boats in the back parked outside). I'd recommend you talk to the managers if you're unhappy, if it is Vail Village Club, they'll take care of you. I've lived here off and on for five years, and every time I leave, I keep coming back.
I will agree that living near an airport can be different, but I now ignore the planes. I've had one problem with a noisy neighbor, and it was resolved quickly and professionally with a phone call to the office. Robert and Audie are the best! I've lived in 3 different styles of units, and can't say a bad thing about any of them. Although I am now moving out of a town home style, the single level 1-bedroom with a long dinner / living room combo is cool as well.
If I move back to Dallas, you can bet I'll come back here!
P.S. Have you tried the basketball court, or the racquetball one? They kick behind! I go there when I can, and bat a ball around. It helps me relieve my work stress.
