Resident 2013

5/30/2013

I have always paid rent on time. Now that my lease is almost up, I need to go month-to- month as I prepare to transfer to another area for work. Champions Woods and Venterra penalize residents who complete their lease and then need to go month-to-month by charging an additional $100 a month on top of increasing monthly rent amounts upwards of $950! And that's for a mediocre 1 bedrooom apartment! So after August if I don't sign a new contract my rent will be over $1000! The perception of quality and customer service is present. But once you get past that you will come to realize that shady business practices like this make Venterra and Champions Woods the same as everyone else. Point is, I am a loyal renter and I am about to be alienated by the property and will end up moving in disdain or being evicted for non-payment when I can't afford over $1100 rent. Time to rewrite policy Venterra. This bait and switch tactic is EXTREMELY similar to what caused the mortgage crisis by increasing rent past the value of the space being rented. It may be in "Black and White" as office staff explain repeatedly, however, that doesn't make these tactics ethical and is unbecoming of a company like Venterra and it's properties. Regardless of their claim that others do it also, I have lived in apartments all my life, throughout the entire country and have never been faced with such ridiculous "policy" which does nothing but victimize good renters that are not in a position to commit to a new lease after making good on the initial agreement. An e-petition has been established. AskVenterra2Change@yahoo.com

Thank you for your comments. I understand your feeling, however I insure you that Venterras practices are not designed to alienate anyone. In the conventional apartment industry, when a residents lease expires and they are considered Month-To-Month there is an increase in cost. This is clearly explained and while I understand your feelings and appreciate your feelings, the lease contract is a legally binding contract. We each have to abide by the tenets and caveats therein, it protects both of us. Venterra prides itself on transparency so that both parties understand the agreement. I appreciate your situation and wish that there was something I can do, however in the interest of fairness in business practices I must uphold the contract, that we both entered into, consistently. We do offer short term, 3 month, renewals in order to provide as much flexibility as we can to our residents. Thank you for the compliments for our quality and customer service we do strive to show our residents a Better Way of Living. Thank you also for being a good resident, it is appreciated. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
