Resident ā€¢ 2013 - 2014

1/25/2015

I have rented multiple apartments in three different states since I graduated from college. As a white collar professional who pays his bills on time and respects other peoples' property, I believe that Stirling Court is a complex that you should avoid. Yes, you may save money on the rent, but quality of life matters. I never liked coming home after work. Here is a list of the reasons why: -screens fell out of windows and nobody cared to reinstall them -I avoided the laundry facilities because the machines didn't function properly and are in awful condition (some of them looked disgusting) -many (most?) people don't clean up after their dogs when they defecate in the grass (it's everywhere) -a neighbor allowed his dog to urinate right on the sidewalk as I passed him one morning -one of my neighbors accused another creepy (drug addicted?) neighbor of peeping in her windows -loud, angry domestic quarrels (one guy chased a woman down the sidewalk in his underwear) -a process server left two subpoenas on my door for a previous tenant (the case involved a violent felony and I had to contact the State's Attorney) -I needed to bug bomb my apartment because of fleas (this required me to stay in a hotel) -roaches appeared in my kitchen and bedroom -ants and earwigs streamed into my bathroom -my ceiling leaked in two places -sewer gas came up through the bathroom sink when I ran the water -the gate at the exit closed on my car and gashed the bumper -the gate at the entrance didn't close most nights (it was broken for months after I moved in) -sketchy people skulked around in the parking lot after dark -stray cats and dogs wandered the property at all hours -neighbors fed the stray cats and then let the foam plates blow all over -marijuana smoke wafted into my unit -trash regularly blew around the property and the dumpsters were often overflowing -some neighbors left their trash bags outside of their front door for days (and animals tore them open) -angry kids ran around the parking lot screaming -someone had their car window smashed -careless neighbors dinged my car multiple times -the Harris County Sheriff's Department showed up with guns drawn outside my neighbor's unit one evening And the list could go on. The place is not safe. One morning (about 4 am) I woke up to a woman yelling: "---- you! You think you're getting some of this -----?! You ain't nothing but a ------ --- drug dealer!" Undoubtedly, some of the tenants are engaged in illegal activity. Why did I stick out my lease? Well, I didn't want to jeopardize my ability to get into a better complex later. Look, life is too damn short to put up with the above nonsense. Spend the money and live somewhere people respect one another. While no complex is perfect, you can do much better than Stirling Court. Lesson learned. The only positive I can think of is the woman who works the front desk in the main office was always professional and friendly. Dissatisfied Former Tenant
