Resident ā€¢ 2006 - 2007

11/18/2007

I think calling these "luxury homes" is a stretch, but the apartments are generally nice. I've lived in some lousy apartments, and this isn't among them. It's one of the better apartment complexes in this area. It's also one of the more expensive in the area, but is not out of line for what you get, especially compared to living in more trendy areas. When I moved in, the apartment was clean, with minimal signs of the previous occupant. Doors, counters, cabinets, flooring, appliances - all are of decent quality and relatively new. I have several friends who live here too, who have moved in over the last three or four years, and they have had the same experience. I rarely hear my neighbors when they are inside their apartments, and most outside noises are short - an argument that breaks up after a few minutes, a car stereo that is shut off or driven away, a dog that is quickly shushed - normal people noises, and not excessive. I've got neighbors with children learning instruments, and you don't hear them unless you walk past their front door. The roads in the area are noisy, though - trucks, sports cars, and Hwy 290. Can't do much about that. The complex has a lot of dogs, since it is one of the few in the area that happily accepts large dogs. Despite that, you don't hear a lot of dogs barking, yapping, or otherwise carrying on. Some of the owners are not so good at picking up after the dogs, but either it's a minority or the grounds staff do some of the work, because dog waste is rarely a problem. The staff in the office are generally friendly but are not very organized, so they sometimes can come across as a bit irritable. Overall, the worst that I can say about them is that they tend to forget things and not follow through - so you have to follow up. Be friendly, be patient, and don't expect miracles - the work will get done eventually if you keep after it. Maintenance is okay - sometimes it can take a lot of time and several increasingly pushy phone calls to get basic maintenance work done, but if there's an emergency, they are quick enough to get someone out to take care of it. Routine exterior maintenance is performed adequately, and the complex is generally clean and attractive. There are plenty of dumpsters in most areas of the complex, but right near the front there's only one to serve several buildings, so that one routinely overflows. Likewise parking - most areas, there's plenty, but near the very front of the complex, it's usually full and you'll have to walk a little. Nobody really likes their leasing company, but that's life and part of the price of renting. I can say from personal experience that this company and complex are better than most of the others I've lived with. If you want a nice apartment for a reasonable price, you could do worse.
