Resident 2012 - 2013

11/24/2013

If I had written this review in the first month I moved into my lease, I would have written a glowing review. However, all of that has changed in the months since. I don't own a dog or cat or any other animal. You would think I did by the amount of animal feces that you can find littered by the complex in which I live. You cannot step in the grass without worrying that you will step in some feces left by some other careless tenant. Which brings us to the laundry room. There is DOG HAIR in the dryers. Actual dog hair. I made the mistake of drying my clothes in it once and immediately broke out. I'm allergic to dog hair. I had to go to the doctor to deal with the hives I had all over my body. Thanks! If you have a downstairs apartment, Lord have mercy on your soul. Invest in some headphones. The first set of neighbors I had were quiet. Around the third month of my lease, they moved out. Now I have people who apparently like to body dive on the floor 24 hours a day over my head. After speaking with them several times, I spoke with management. I might as well have beat my own head on the all. If anything, the problem only got worse. If you have a car and move into the middle section, invest in some good walking shoes. There is NO parking if you get here after 9pm. Apparently they are now renting to a bunch of college kids who like to party. These parties last 24 hours it seems. Which brings me to the next problem. It is no longer a family-friendly environment. Between the meth heads in one apartment and party central in two of the apartments, your children are liable to see anything. It's a shame too because the apartments used to be nice. Now, anything goes. So, if you don't mind all of this, move in today!

Thank you for posting a review. We appreciate both the good and the bad, as it allows for us to make improvements where needed, and encourages our staff to keep striving for excellence in all aspects. In case you were unaware, we have a Community Monitor that we lean on for noise disturbances. You may call the office number after hours (936-639-2599) and press #4 to prompt for the Community Monitor to be notified. You may also make a complaint of noise disturbance with the police if necessary. If it is during regular business hours, please contact the property manager, and she will address. Either way, without notifying someone of the disturbance, it will continue to go unaddressed. To address the animal feces problem you mentioned, we have divided our staff into teams to cover every square inch of the property to try to identify what area this is an issue, as we have had no other recent complaints, and we have not seen in our daily inspections of the property. Again, I recommend that you contact the management office to specify the area in which you mentioned. Also, we have pet stations installed throughout the property for pet owners to clean up after their pets. Perhaps there is one needed near your building that we are not aware of. Parking is first come first serve, and we do have additional parking near the office for residents with guests. However, if we were aware of a certain area or building, we could start by sending a courtesy reminder asking residents to have guests park by the office to allow residents to park closer to their apartment home. I strongly encourage you to reach out to the property manager when there is an unsatisfactory circumstance in which you're dealing with and allow the property manager to address the issue/s. If at that time you feel your issues were not addressed properly, you may also contact myself and rest assured, we will come to a resolution. You may contact me directly at any time at dswindoll@lumacorp.com, or 214-361-6666, ext. 108. I look forward to making a more positive living experience for you at Deer Cross. Best regards, Dandi Swindoll Regional Supervisor LumaCorp, Inc.
