Resident 2003 - 2012

2/12/2013

I recently moved out of Lincoln at Towne Square. And the move was WAY overdue. I got so tired of them saying, "We're not responsible- Act of nature . I've survived a flood in my apartment, a fire in the building next to me, pet feces everywhere, RATS and MICE, stray cat wandering into my apartment from the patio, a bird in my air conditioning system (the office said that was impossible ) *I* let down the a/c filter and the bird flew out the door. But the last straw was coming home to find a SNAKE in my living room. Not only did the office say they were not responsible but the young woman also LAUGHED at me and said "It probably won't hurt you." I could NOT believe she said that! Needless to say, I gave my move out notice the very next morning and rented someplace NICE. The rats in my apt and garage did over $1200 in damage to my stuff. I'd been gone for a month and they really made a mess! The flood caused me to be out of my apt and in a hotel for 4 weeks. Not ONE cent of concession on that month's rent because "they were not responsible." uh huh. Even though my lease expired, they still made me give a 2 month notice. My rent at Lincoln had increased from $725 to $998 for a one bedroom apartment. I had ugly brown laminate counter tops, ugly brown stick on tile on the floors, the cheapest carpet available in speckled beige. Single pane windows that did not keep out the cold nor heat. As mentioned, the landscaping had really gotten bad. Again, they said their hands were tied. *I* bought St. Augustine grass and they laid it in front of my apt. I also bought shrubs and small boulders for the flowerbeds outside my apartment. I'd lived at that apartment for 9 years. I saw changes about 3 years ago, especially in the office staff. The landscaping went to seed EXCEPT for the streets leading to the Rental office! The pool furniture was in disrepair for years! They finally got new furniture but put it at the pool behind the office. I loved the proximity to the nearby shops/restaurants etc but that was not enough to make up for the negatives. The one bright spot was the speedy attention received by the maintenance staff. My move out went smoothly but I think it was ONLY because I made photos of everything and in their presence. Also shampooed that old carpet and asked the office for a copy of the move out notice that I signed. I left absolutely NOTHING to chance. My NEW apartment is a couple of miles *north*, granite in the kitchen and bath, beautiful bath and kitchen fixtures, glass cook top, huge rooms, view, hardwood floors, elevator, and am just steps from everything imaginable. Rent is only $50 more. Take my advice and keep looking.
