Resident 2008

10/2/2008

I moved my family here from a distance of 500 miles. The day before moving, I called the manager (------)and she promised that the apartment was ready. I am a 3 time cancer survivor and have a compromised immune system. I was very spesific in what I needed before I moved in to this place. I was shown an apartment that had been upgraded and made a decision based on that place. My apartment did not resemble it at all!! I have been sick and hopsitalized twice since I've moved here. The apartment was filthy when we arrived. Dust was caked into the paint job, cabinet faces were missing with nail heads exposed, wire racks in the room my child was in was broken and only after my son injured himself was it replaced, the bathrooms were filled with silver fish and earwigs, a forty lb. closet door fell on a five year old, two rooms of my apartment cools a little and the rest of the place is usually about 80 degrees. We moved here the first week of August 2008. The office personal, management, and maintenance has already been switched out several times. Nobody knows what is going on and nobody seems to really care. This is not even the half of it....applianced that don't work - still have not replaced - promised new - have not delivered!!!

I am the new Property Manager at Somerset and I just got my password set up for apartmentratings.com so I wanted to respond to your email. I do apologize for any problems you may have had at move in. As far as your health is concerned, Venterra Realty is a huge supporter of the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Research Foundation. I personally, along with several other Somerset employees, walked in the 5K Race at Northpark mall recently. Each of our properties across the US (and Canada) have taken part in their local races and we have raised tons of money for the cause. On a personal note, I hope that your fight goes well. On a business note, there were several comments in your file that Somerset gave you rental compensation upon your move in since the apartment was not ready to your satisfaction. Additionally, management offered for you to be released from your lease without penalty on more than one occassion and you declined. (This resident did move out when her lease was up at the end of January). Good luck to you in the future.
