The absolute truth about this place

This apartment started out amazing!!!! Everyone was so friendly when I was moving in, they were able to get me into the apartment the same day that I signed the paperwork. I guess someone this eager to get a new tenant should have been a bit more suspect to me. Things started off well, to say the least, but went downhill quickly. After a couple days I realized that the very small washers and dryers on the facility, would cost me about $15 per week to wash all of my clothes and military uniforms. At this point I decided to get a washer and dryer rental from their contractors. They told me they would be there on a Wednesday to install my appliances. Nobody showed, so I waited until Thursday to give them the benefit of the doubt. When I came home from work on Thursday, and still had no washer and dryer, I called the office. They had put my apartment number in wrong to the contractors so my appliances were in another apartment. By the time they were able to get the contractors out to fix the problem, it was already Thursday of the next week, 8 days later than they said it would be installed, and me being forced to scrounge for something to wear. During the entire stay there, they were making improvements to the complex..... if you could call it that. The apartment gate would stick in the open position and never close to get into the complex, but to get out, you had to wait for it to open. The replacement siding that they put in looked worse than the original. The workers always left wood scraps and tools laying on the sidewalks and in the bushes as well. There is a lot more that I could write, but I'm pretty sure everyone can see where this is going. The hot water heater went out and it took the maintenance man 3 trips up in order to fix it. We had a large rat that was coming through the wall behind our washer and dryer and raiding our pantry, he then proceeded to die inside the wall and make the whole apartment stink for a month. Over a holiday weekend I had one of my front tires slashed. I parked a trailer in the apartment lot for about 3 weeks and then the day after I said I wanted to terminate my lease they cover it with fliers saying that I must move the trailer immediately. The real kicker, is that when I got military orders sending me to Georgia, they would not let me leave when I was supposed to. My lease ended on the 31st of January, and my orders had a depart date of 21 January. I went to the office on the 3rd of January to tell them about my departure, and they showed me some fine print that stated my lease automatically renewed unless I said that I wanted to cancel it. They also said that I would have to pay a $250 fee to break my new lease, and as well as pay an extra month's rent, no longer at the $735 military rate, but at an extensive $885 market rate. I did not break my lease within 30 days of the first of the month was their reasoning. So upon leaving I had to pay $1135 for a month in an apartment that I was not going to be staying in, even though they never said anything about having to break a lease with military orders at least 30 days from the first of the month. The fact that I only received my orders 26 days before the first of the month was no concern to them, they had no compassion for a United States Soldier. I am now in an apartment in Georgia that is much cleaner and has much better management, and I receive a statement of charges from them saying the fridge is dirty, the oven is dirty, and the bathroom is dirty, and that I owe $110 to cover the charges. My wife and I spent an entire week moving out and cleaning that apartment before we left, so what 'dirty' means to them is beyond me. The last month that I paid for and didn't live there, I found out they had been showing the apartment already and had another tenant living in it already before my time was expired, so they were collecting double rent for that apartment. It felt like every single stop into their office ended unpleasantly with them giving me excuses as to why they didn't have to help me with whatever issue I presented to them. Since they gave me the statement of charges they have not returned any phone call that I have made to them regarding the issue either. Overall, I regret choosing the first place I stopped at. It looks very nice from the outside, but disappoints wholeheartedly once you're inside.
