Resident ā€¢ 2005 - 2007

10/1/2007

I was out of town and paid my September rent using their online system & got a confirmation# & everything from it, plus it came out of my bank account. When I got home a couple of weeks later the assistant manager, Sara B., had called & said they hadn't received rent & if I didn't pay in 3 days I would be evicted. It was past the 3days when I got the message & called and she was really nasty about it. She refused to accept the confirmation # saying that wasn't proof I'd paid & demanded a bank statement showing it had debited from my account. She also accused me of skipping out, because she'd already gone to serve eviction papers inside the apt & said there wasn't much there. That's because they wouldn't allow my husband, who's an active duty US Soldier, to be added to the lease when we got married (discrimination, btw). And we had to move right after we got married & the complex wouldn't release me from the lease, which is legal in TX. So most of my belongings were gone, but a good portion were still there as we had to keep paying rent until the lease expired Nov 2007. I proved I'd paid the rent (early, even!) and Sara B. was supposed to rectify the situation. The end of Sept. 2007 we went to get the last of my things and found they'd been in the apt, repainted and replaced all the counter tops, and thrown all my belongings from the living room, kitchen, & dining areas in the middle of the living room area floor, along with a bunch of newspapers (not mine) scattered all over the place. I had an expensive formal ball gown still in the bedroom & there was paint sprayed all across the bottom of it. The few clothes and shoes left in the closet had all been moved around. Sara B. showed up to try and explain, saying they thought I'd skipped out - hello, stupid, I just talked to you 2weeks prior & said no I hadn't, why would I skip out & keep paying rent!?! - and then told me some ridiculous story about how they confused my apartment with someone else's who HAD skipped out. To sum it up, they've released me from the lease (I think she'd already had me as evicted actually) and refunded the last month's rent to pay for the ruined ball gown. I won't believe it until it's all over & done with, though. Sara B. is notorious for not calling you back or relaying messages to the manager. She's rude and I can tell you now from experience, she lies lies lies. This complex was fine until they hired her on. Once she was on staff, I had nothing but problems the last 4-6mos while living there - and over little things that shouldn't have even been an issue. Unless you're just dying to live in the Medical Center area, for the amount of $$ they charge, you could easily find another property.
