I've been at the Meridian at Carlyle since Spring 2009 and love it so far. The location is wonderful, everything in my unit is fully functional, and I have a great view. I have only a few minor areas for improvement. They wouldn't stop me from living here again, but your priorities may be different...
Rental Process
As with most large properties, there are crazy complicated rent structures, concessions, fee arrangements, etc. I hated this part of it.
Parking
I pay $50/month and find the fee pretty reasonable. However, while I find the garage under the building really convenient, most of the spots are tiny and difficult to maneuver (between posts). Good thing the building's location is great and I don't have to drive that often.
Noise
This is the quietest apartment building that I've ever lived in when it comes to neighbor noise. I get the occassional person bumping into walls or whatever, but have never heard voices, music, etc. from the neighbors - just people walking through the hallways. The only other thing I'd say about noise is that my HVAC unit is a little loud. It's nothing I wasn't used to after two weeks though.
Grounds
Over the summer I spent at least a few hours each weekend at the pool. It's nice, relatively large, and ususally not too crowded.
Staff
The previous posters are correct... that lady in the office is mean. Luckily I've only crossed paths with her a few times. (1) She called me at work to yell at me for forgetting to put my unit number on my rent check - honest oversight, one month! (2) She flagged me down in the garage to sternly tell me to tell my husband to shut the gate to the bike room - and I'm not married. However, the door staff, with whom you will interact daily, are very professional and courteous.
